thanks for explaining that in such detail.

Another boss tactic question, somewhat offtopic:

Remember when you TASed my boss rush hack and I told you that GT was vulnerable to psuedo screw attacks before he even hits the ground? Did you ever find out if thats faster in TAS conditions?

It is, saves 1 charged shot I think. That equals 60 frames ;]
woot. 60 frames is quite an improvement (I think...)

Yes it is an improvement indeed, unfortunately only useful in a 100% run.

Which I am fortunately about to make :-)

Taking the super missile might interfere with this though so I'm not sure it can be implemented, although if it can it might save even more time as I probably won't have wavebeam at this point (new route) which means he takes more hit than usual to kill. Maybe it will save two shots :P

Though remember that it is not sure that it will save 60 frames from cutting out one shot, since you can double hit him you might only gain his invincibility time in frames which probably is closer to 10 frames (this depends on how the rest of the fight turns out). Still a good improvement though.
Well, the great thing about the pseudo is that you can hit torizo after you pb the blocks away before he falls because he won't fall until you go under him (iirc), and damage boost from the pseudo into the super missle. I think its possible in realtime (don't have a rom on the school computers) but if thats true, its definitely possible under TAS conditions.

Then, you could be down waiting in the spot with a shot charged on the way down.
Unless Golden Torizo has a ridiculously high damage multiplier for pseudo screw attacks, a single PSA won't do enough damage to remove a full ice/pasma/wave charge shot, so you'd have to hit him with 5 PSAs to save the time of the one charge shot.  I don't really see this as being useful outside of a TAS.  Also, IIRC GT takes 15 ipw charge shots to kill, so the PSAs could take the place of one of those, and the others could just be seven double hits.  I can't remember off the top of my head the damage from a ip charged shot, so I'm not positive how many PSAs would equal one of those.

Also, about the Supers, would there be enough time to grab them during GT's death sequence?

And I know I'm a bit late, but great job on the TAS, Cpadolf.

What route are you planning on using for this new 100% TAS that gets wave after LN?  Unless you've found new strategies for both Botwoon and Draygon, I don't see how Maridia without wave would be faster than the detour to grab it, and there's no dobut that LN without plasma (and wave) would be considerably slower.
I'm pretty sure delaying Wave Beam after LN is slower in-game time wise. The Golden Torizo fight alone would lose more time than the detour to get Wave early, and on top of that you will also lose a couple of seconds in the pink Brinstar wave gate E-Tank room and entire Maridia. Even realtime it will be pretty close, since the 2 additional door transitions only lose 5 sec. The most benefitting part of this route is the fact that you wouldn't have to refill as many energy drops to survive the significantly less amount of heat rooms you need to pass while being suitless, and only because of this it might be worth to try this route when going exclusively for realtime. It's a very risky one and can eventually result to lose much more than expected later, but hero is known for his crazy route ideas and the urge to take many risks in his runs, which on the other hand makes him a great and unique TASer, whose work is always innovative, entertaining and often very unexpected to watch.

It's a realtime oriented route and otherwise wave would probably be gotten beforehand, but since it speeds up the suitless norfair that route change will be a greater gain than it would be otherwise. As for not having wave I don't think it will slow us down in that many places, botwoon will be a small loss and draygon will be no loss at all (because the second round on him can be delayed by a lot without him dieing later, this is what I do in this any% TAS) gold torizo would take a couple of seconds longer as will entering crocmire and taking the pink brinstar reverse gate E-tank, in the rest of all rooms there should be no grand losses.

It is indeed a risky route that might turn out next to impossible to fulfill and there are even a couple of other changes I rather not discuss here because if they work (it is not at all certain that they will, they are kinda crazy) it will be a nice surprise and if they don't no one will get disappointed.
Indeed it is a crazy route change, and all of you have pretty much summed up all the pros and the cons of it. I also figured that collecting the wave beam while having the space jump will save some time, because you will not have to fall down to the lower level of the room to escape. Not only are the two door transitions removed, but the fall down/climb up in the bubble room is also removed. I honestly think the in-game differences are about equal, and the realtime gains are pretty substantial. It sure will be nice having a no pause menu run  too Wink
Fantastic!

Now you need to get the Ceres escape to 49:20 ala Taco!
Almost happy
49:22 actually.
defrag in progress
Might be a noob question, but why do you collect the varia suit?
Till Kraid`s death I believed you would not pick it up at all.
Is this some Mother Brain damage calculation thing?
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
The varia suit lets you take only 300 damage from mother brain's brain drain, otherwise it would be 600 damage

I get that question roughly 10 times per run I complete laugh new
Are you ready for some underwear music?

Isn't it called the Hyper Beam? :-s
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
It's called a lot of things
Are you ready for some underwear music?
Yeah, but I like to call it Hyper Beam.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
And I like to call it the brain drain...
Rainbow Ray?  :P
Every Bit Counts
don't you mean Rainbow Beam? :P Rolling Eyes

I call it "stupid random reason to make varia necessary beam"

Also rainbow beam. But that's unofficial.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
What about: The beam that makes my bunny in my avatar fail at DDR beam
Almost happy
I'd go for it.
yeah
