Sorry Ark. I don't sell prints of fan art. :) Gotta respect the real artists, and such.
I always hate it when I see a commission for someone on deviantART, and they're using copyrighted characters, like Link and Midna. Or something. You don't SELL that! It may be your art, but making money off of those characters is almost like stealing. :/ Draw their characters or something, jeez.
I've always been a fan of Batman, and I always appreciate any imagery portraying the darker Batman. I often find it annoying when he's portrayed as the 'hero of Gotham' (and all the campness along with it), which moves away from the original, revenge-driven idea of Batman.
Yep, hence the negatively posed question (I agree with your position btw). How much do your prints normally cost?
I don't know, it depends on what size they are, I guess. dA got a ton of different size, so a ton of different prices. You could even get it on a coffee mug if you wanted to. xD
But yeah, since it's in a fanart category, they don't even give you the option. Just not allowed. Hurray for copyright infringement. :D
There's not much stopping you I'd think, but that still seems to fall in the same ethical issue as buying a print off DA directly, if you care about that sort of thing.
My favorite incarnation of Batman is any who's not opposed to killing people.
Any incarnation of Batman who is not opposed to killing isn't true to the source material and not really Batman. If you're talking about Bruce, anyway. Jean Paul killed as Batman, so I suppose there's that.
I know it's not really Batman, but it's still more entertaining. Always bugs me when Batman decides to "leave a criminal for the police to handle", then the criminal just escapes.
Agreed. In a practical society there's no way the Joker wouldn't have fried by now. But if you keep killing the bad guys, it's just not as interesting in fiction.
I think that whether the bad guy gets any form of comeuppance is irrelavant in many formats.
I suppose the part that people like to see is the battle between good and evil, in whatever guise. If the bad guy died, then there'd be no battle, and therefore no substance.
It's also funny when you realise that the bad guy has escaped / been rescued so many times that you are numb to it, as you just want them to get another beatdown anyway!
He he, yeah, but there's no way to continue the story, because there's no ongoing battle between the two. Because one side ultimately loses, there's no possibility for longevity, whereas comics and stuff rely solely on the opposite, so you could assume that the bad guys can never win because a hero cannot be killed. Conversely, a hero can never win, as he would have no purpose, and therefore no longer be a hero.
* Quietus takes a breath, as the above sounded a little 'deep'!
Tell that to Clark Kent, Oliver Queen, Steve Rogers, Jean Grey, Jason Todd, J'onn J'ones, Ted Kord, Peter Parker, Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, Conner Kent, ect.
To be fair though, pretty much everyone dies at least once in comics and no one really seems to stay dead for too long. It's really just a minor inconvenience.
And I only knew about three of them, so they can't be many of the more traditional, well-known heroes...
I can't recall any of the main heroes (Superman, Spiderman, et cetera) being properly killed? But I'm also not that much of a nerd when it comes to comics and their characters.
To be fair, Peter Parker's two deaths were so brief they barely count. Superman, though, had a highly publicized death. Although they always intended to bring him back, he was legitimately killed.
