I found this out a while ago:

In Draygon's lair, try to get one of those slimes in you, and run until you get the boost. Now, go near Draygon, and Jump upwards, it should make Samus make a vertical super jump. The thing is, try to get Draygon take you, while you're making the jump. this would make Samus blue, and Draygon would take you up and away and try to crush you with its "Tail". When Draygon releases you, you will have Blue suit.

You can, of course do the thing i explained below, and when in air, do the Grapple beam trick. Draygon will die, and you will have the blue suit. For me, that's much easier than The old tactic.
Thread title:
Time bomb set get out fast!
Of course!  The blue suit works because Draygon's death resets Samus's position to "standing."  It makes perfect sense that getting grabbed would have a similar effect.

Now the question is whether this can be reproduced on the console.  If it really does work, I'm amazed no one's stumbled on it before.  There are a hundred ways to screw up a blue suit attempt -- this should have happened to somebody by now.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
Actually, I thought this *was* known already. It's been posted a number of times.
Although, I only got it now to work. Previously, the gunk had always been destroyed because Samus reached blue suit speed, so I kept wondering how people managed to get Draygon to grab them after charging up.
Finally decided to get around and testing it today, and I realized that they simply charge for the super jump *immediately* when blue-suit speed is reached. Due to a quirk in timing (I'm guessing), Samus's state is set from blue-suit to non-blue suit before the gunk ever gets a chance to detect it and thus die (I'm pretty sure death is triggered from within the gunk's AI).

Soooo... Something I've been meaning to do for a long time and never got around to: The Draygon glitch medley. May have missed a glitch or two, though... I know I didn't do a crystal-flash --> super jump, although I *meant* to. Just never actually did it. >_<
... Crud. I just realized, I don't have the grapple AI-freeze in it, either... although I'm almost sure I did it. Weird. >_<

I also didn't get in the free-movement while grabbed glitch, but that's almost as flukish as Ridley getting stuck in the platform. >_> I actually have a movie of it, but... it takes a while before it happens. >_> Meh, I'll through it in, anyways. It's zm7. Wait till Samus is down to 512 energy, then watch what happens when Draygon grabs her. This movie was an earlier failed attempt at the Draygon glitch medley.

In the movie(zm3), in order they appear:
Blue Suit, as mentioned in this topic
PermaSlow
Gravity Jump (eh, not Draygon related, but extremely useful)
Escape Draygon's Room (Just to prove that gray doors don't always mean "No Entrance". Note: In difficulty, this glitch is probably on par with getting PB #66... I used a keycombo to make sure I pulled it off right without wasting time trying it over and over and over. Draygon has to grab you at a certain height for this to work)
X-Ray Force Stand (Not needed if I didn't mess up on the next glitch)
Jump through Solid Blocks (Two more not Draygon related glitches)
Blue Suit, as mentioned in this topic. Again.
Draygon Uber-Long Death Sequence (And you thought RPG death scenes took a long time... Yes, this does end... eventually. Leave the fastforward button on for a while)
Draygon Grapple Wall Reserve Tank Movement
Grapple Stand (not Draygon related... but it's there! XD Would've also put in Grapple Fly, but I didn't think of it till I was nearly out of health, and it takes too many tries. >_<)
Misc. failed bomb jumping (attempted to use some old button sequences I used in the 10-year anniversary bomb jump movie. Except they didn't work, not sure why. >_<)
Draygon FINALLY DIES.
The movie breaks after leaving Draygon's room. Glad that didn't happen at the *start* of the movie. <_<

And since I wasn't satisfied with missing the two glitches listed earlier, I made a seperate movie of them both (zm2). It probably works out better to watch that one first, anyways.

Oh and... um... Sorry about hijacking the thread.
Could you post those in .avi format please?

Ready and willing.
It's not super easy to turn an emulator vid into .avi. I thought this would get Nate's attention enough without comment to turn it into a vid, but I guess not. Hey Nate! Yoohoo!  :P

Seeing a glitch medley like that would own.
Where is this "uber-long death sequence"?  When I watched it, YOU died.  Then you just hung around Norfair for forever, jumped in some lava, and died.  Do I need a different version of ZSNES or something?

Probably. This is why emulator movies suck. (Not thier content, of course...)

This was recorded in zsnes 1.36. For some reason, the programmers seem to want to change the processor timing quite often, so the movies often aren't compatible on different versions. Despite this, they don't do anything to help with compatibility.

I don't think most of the movie is worth recording. I don't waste much time up until Samus escapes the room, but from then on there's not much to watch.

i cut out the most relevant parts (according to kejardon). note that the quality is a bit on the ghetto side, i guess just because i didn't feel like putting any polish on something this stopgap.

Merci beaucoup, monsieur.
Thanks, Nate.

That second one is soooooooo long. What exactly was happening with Draygon disappearing.
I'll be back. Maybe...
I wonder if you could also get the Blue Suit by Shinesparking into the Varia or the Gravity Suit?

Edit: I tried it using cheat codes to get a shine charge there: seems to work. Only problem'll be actually getting the charge there.
The Blue Suit doesn't show up when I view the movies. Does it flash too fast to record, like with some elevators?

EDIT: Nevermind, it shows up now.

That's only a problem with VCRs, which go at 30 fps instead of 60.

EDIT REPOST: The zm3 one just won't start downloading, even though the other ones will. What gives?

EDIT: Nevermind. Firefox got stuck thinking I was downloading that file, even though I wasn't.

nah, the vcr is not the problem, it's the capture device that's the problem. and indeed, had i cut half the frames instead of two thirds of them, it would have happened with these videos, as well. (all low quality and medium quality runs on sda are 20 fps now to counter the blinking problem. of course, the high quality remains 60 fps, so every blink on and off is intact.)

Draygon takes *forever* to die because when he's off-screen to the left of the room, his AI thinks he's waaaaaaaay to the right of his death destination. So, he travels around the entire 'world' (around 65,000 pixels) instead of a short distance to the right (about 300 pixels)
Haha. That's a pretty funny AI screw-up. So it goes ALL the way around the game map.
Hmm...wow...wouldn't Draygon realize after awhile that he should just die...hahaha...I mean come on...he wander to Ridley's room...

Ridley: Hey Draygo--

Draygon: Sorry, got to go...trying to find my dying spot...*loud death moan*
@Skreemaster: Did you really just shinespark into Varia/Gravity?
I tried it on console(you can easily get a shinespark in Kraid's room via Quick Charge),but when I shinesparked into Varia, the game froze...
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
The game will only crash if you stop at the same time you pick up the suit. But picking up a suit while super jumping won't give you blue suit - you'll just continue the super jump after picking up the suit, and when it ends, you don't have blue suit.
