Bomb Jumping is my favourite part about the Prime games (and every Metroid game, really), but I'm still completely stoked for the Spring Ball, simply because it's damn cool and much faster. Imagine how much time would be cut from a Prime I run if the SB was included there.
Hehe. The other side of the hardcore fan coin. One side wants to spend hours bomb jumping. The other half is stoked that you could SAVE hours from NOT bombjumping.

Imagine if a spring ball triple bomb jump unmorph works... and imagine if Retro didn't imagine we could pull it off.

I think there's a huge possibility that the Spring Ball will give us some new jumps that weren't intended by Retro. I'm very, very eager to try it out.

we really should hold restraint on ourselves this time around so as to not ruin it for PAL players.

I do get the feeling that Retro might just be anticipating such a response form us this time... ;) Still, it'll defanitely be interesting to see if we can manipulate the bomb counter to our advantage again...  Twisted Evil

Why? As nate said before, no matter what we do, the PAL version is going to have a lot of fixes, and therefore there will only be one version (North American/NTSC) for serious runners and Breakers to play. PAL people are just going to have to import.

Bwahaha, @ 4:38 the developer totally told his fanbase off in reference to bomb jumping and the new springball - "I know all the hardcore people will be like 'no, I want to spend an hour bombing my way up to that one item', but it works pretty well; I like the new system." Little does the bastard know that in that one hour, the "hardcore people" could beat all of Metroid Prime!

...not that a springball isn't welcome or anything... :|
For those that are 100%-ing Corruption videos:

Here's a 10 minute long gem showing the final version of parts of the ship and original planet level.
- it fills in a lot of details, so consider it spoilerific
- it shows the boss fight on the ship, and where the black hand comes from
- vast visual improvements over what we saw 10 months ago

A few things:

1) Jackie's actually pretty good at it, but the guy speaking messed up a bit because he was supposed to "cue" Jackie to do stuff.  They had a memorized routine, and it got messed up on stage.  The routine was supposed to go: Go into visor mode and show off Samus' reflection and eye movement.  Scan door.  Open first door.  Go through next room avoiding enemies.  Next room, run and gun the enemies.  Reach the door and shoot it.  While it loads (yes, it does load, sorry), do a bomb jump with spring ball.  Enter next room.  Double jump to fight area.  Take on a Space Pirate while locked on, but fire at another to show that new aiming system.  Finish off one Space Pirate with charged shots.  Take out two in Hyper Mode.  Finish last one by jumping off the middle platform in the air with a shot downwards - a la the Halo 3 commercial where Master Chief jumps down to fight the enemies.  She did this consistently through rehearsals, but again, some minor things went awry on stage.  However, she was controlling the game.

2) Spoiler time.  After that part in the portion Jackie played, you fight Rundus in a boss battle.  He's corrupted by Dark Samus.  He has this bad ass ice ability where he "surfs" around stage with an ice trail, kinda like Samuel L. Jackson's character in The Incredibles.  He also can cause ice formations to rise from the ground, can freeze Samus with an ice beam, and tossed ice chunks.  I don't suck at Metroid, but it took me 25 minutes to beat him.  It's that hard.  Very fast paced, the way to damage  him is you have to stun him with a ton of hits, break off his armor suit with your grappling beam, and then damage him while he goes nuts in some hyper mode of his own firing all manor of ice projectiles.  Near the end, he gets in the middle and swings a huge ass ice "club" weapon and tosses it at Samus.  There was no effective way to "side-dash", but I managed to pull off a mini-one.  Unfortunately, I actually died right before I could defeat him, so I couldn't see what else was after.  The debug menu also showed a ton of other level names and areas...unfortunately I can't remember them and I wasn't allowed any form of camera (nor would I have wanted to do that as I was their guest).
Anywhere, everywhere
Thank the lord the other hunters are evil. I just couldn't stand rundus (or rundas, whatever) saving you in the demo, so it's nice we can kill that egotistical bastard...

EDIT: lol, kill kraid
Cool, I like that you fight Rundus. You would have done well to remember the names of those areas though. >_>

i would imagine that you "kill" them, not kill them.  as in de-corrupting them.

and lol, that berserker got owned.
Thanks a bundle TSA!

How did Jackie get that sweet job?  Official on-stage demo person is quite a jump from impromptu cosplayer.

The media was given CDs with game footage.  Besides the new trailer (and Jackie's on stage portion?) what else was on it?  Is there a timetable on when parts can be shown?
You mean that piece of shit trailer CD?  No, there's nothing given to the media that's being withheld that I know of.  I really wish I had tinkered more with the MP debug unit they had there.  It was on one of those Wii units with the "maroon" tops (where the disc insert should be) and apparently pressing the 2 button at anytime crashed the game...heh.
That looks completely sexy! (I just bought a wii so MP3 - Here I come!  grin new
