I was wondering...

When you go back to Tourian, you will probably notice that the place has exploded, besides the beginning.  Now, where you get the Power Bomb Tank (Where the Mother Brain was) the room is shining, and not exploded.  The same with back near the beginning.  Why don't you go to the beginning instead of climbing tot he top and evacuation to your ship?  It makes no sense.  Also, if this is possible, wouldn't that let you keep your suit until you go in your ship?
Thread title:
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
If I remember, the last Zebetite 'hole' is filled in after you kill Mother Brain, so you are forced to escape up the vertical shaft, and that also prevents getting the Missile tank in there at that time.
Also, it would be hard to tell exactly how big the explosion was going to be.  So better safe than sorry ;)  After all, in Super Metroid when Mother Brain exploded the whole planet blew up :D
I have a slightly different question about this here escape, actually.  I'm attemping a Hard 15% game, and took supers and energy tanks as the optional 6%.  Everything up to Tourian, including Ridley, was rather easy, which rather surprised me.  Tourian itself was a decent challenge.  Mother Brain... was quite the evil little piece of work.
The escape sequence after Mother Brain, however, has me stopped cold.  I've tried walljumping up the shaft, regular jumps, even bomb jumps, but I simply cannot seem to get up and out in time.  I've watched the Hard 15% VMUs, and they utilize the High Jump, which I do not have and cannot go back and get without going over 15%.  Is the High Jump or Speed Booster simply required to get out in time on Hard?  Has anyone else managed to make it out without either?
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I've done it without hi jump. You've got to bomb jump up that shaft, and that means doing pretty much everything flawless. You have BARELY enough time to get out. Expect to get to the ship with a second or less to go.
i've made it out without high jump on hard. it's quite close, but i actually screwed up a couple times on the time i made it. try to look ahead to see what the next platform you'll be jumping to will be.
Okay, about the explosion, when it explodes, why can't we go to the blue parts of Crateria that aren't about to be blown to bits?
If you look during the cutscene after you escape, the explosion is VERY large, almost all of Crateria would have been in it. The fact is, Zebes is made of very dense, very tough rock. Considerably more of the surface than it looks was engulfed in the explosion. You'd have had to make it all the way back through the Norfair elevator to reasonably escape it, and even then, not knowing how big the explosion would be, would going back into the depths of teh planet really be a good idea?

Also, remember it's a video game. Making sense is an optional extra. :P
The explosion itself has a lot to do with it, but after you go back and you see the blown up rocks and crap, you'll notice that to place where your ship was has rocks in perfect condition.  So why the heck did we have to go in the ship?!?!  :?
Little gnomes cleaned the landing site up afterwards. Now hush Wink
Uh, I'm so out of it. You can get a powerbomb expansion in TOURIAN?!

There's two thingies in Tourain, but neither is accesible until after the escape from Tourain.
So you can return to Zebes?

Yep. Figure it out... it's not too hard, if you pay attention.
Oh. Well.

No need for sour looks, Nate. Heesh.
