No, just shooting doesn't work, but you vent a tiny bit when you use a Hyper Missile.

I know, but the amount vented is terribly small.  Nearly as thin as a wire.

Is this actually true? I've never seen it decrease when using a hyper missile but I rarely use them.

I thought that using weaponry on Phaaze vented your weaponry. Bloody stupid to think that SHOOTING Phazon weaponry would lower your bar. Stupid as hell. I guess Samus is making/absorbing more Phazon than she can discharge.
