Did anyone else notice that, based on the screens we've seen, her ship looks different than in the other Metroid games (sans Fusion of course)? And does anyone think this might possibly be important?

Yes, and yes. If you check [url=www.metroid.com]metroid.com[/url], the game agrees with Samus' backstory from the old Nintendo Power comics in that she once lived on Zebes. I have a suspicion that she'll aquire the ship we're used to her having during the game.
