I've just heard something for the first time that I thought the community should be aware of. (Definitely a game breaker glitch here)

Supposedly, on some Corruption discs the game will glitch up when you try to use the two spinners in Mine Lift on the Pirate Homeworld. You are able to use the spinners, but the lift won't drop down so you can go on to Phazon Harvesting. If you end up saving after this has happened your run through the game will end right there since you can't get use the spinners afterwards.

This is the first I've heard of it. Sounds like the only way around this is to get a new disc somehow, unfortunately. And there's no way of knowing if this will happen until you get to Mine Lift for the first time.

Edit: So far I've only seen this happen to one person, but it's still something to be aware of in the event it applies to others.
Thread title:
I heard about that a while ago... it'd be nice to know what causes it though... in all the times I've gone through the game this has never happened to me. Maybe something with timing a bomb in the spinner?
not evil,just hungry
From what I've seen, the only people complaining about it are those that saved after encountering it.  This makes me believe that it is a random occurance that can be amended by resetting, instead of the disk error the reportees are suggesting. (kind of like MP2 echo locks or MP1 Artifact of Warrior).
I haven't seen it not drop, but one time when I used the left spinner first, it dropped the entire way down... I was so shocked that I screw attacked back up and entered the right side... only to find the spinner was no longer active and I had to quit.

If it was all the way down, then why would you need to quit?

Also, someone try this for me, since I don't have a save anywhere near that point:

-Spin one spinner
-Reload room
-Spin second spinner
Every Bit Counts
I would, but I have the same problam as you. It probably is like the Valahra Hand Scanner Glitch (which is probably where you got the idea from). Also, I think the game wouldn't let him out for some reason.

Because when I screw attacked back up and entered the other spinner, it was no longer active, nor would it let me bomb out of it.

If we were able to consistently get that to work, it would be a nice little timesaver :) (obviously not the screw-attack-back-up-and-get-stuck part)
nvm. basically what paraxade said is what causes the glitch. i was using his method while simultaneously trying my own.
