The original has a weird ass map on repeat :|
so far apart it's difficult to make any comparison ... like comparing medieval europeans and modern americans.

er, i actually mean modern europeans.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
And as we all know, medieval Europe is more interesting to study about than modern America.

Burn.
Are you sure Swords and Knights are more interesting than drugs and prostitutes? Rolling Eyes

*stabs you and rides away on a horse*

Hell yeah.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Drugs and prostitutes are funny. Swords and Knights aren't.
Metroid I, definitely. ZM I enjoyed, but not nearly on the level of Metroid. Metroid is still one of my favorite games of all time.
zm, because it has metroid included! and m1 feels advanced on the gba
MZM all the way!

I like Metroid 1 better than MZM despite the fact that I never beat it without cheating. MZM was way too easy. I like challenges* for the most part even if the screw attack in M1 makes you (nearly) omnipotent (same thing in MZM but it's already easy enough).

*Not challenges that requires hardwiring a rewind button into the system.

Ditto on that.
Wow, I'm REALLY surprised to see Zero Mission winning by this much. Can you say "SPOON-FEEDING"? And the most disappointing end boss ever?

Just out of curiosity, why is that 2 sentences?

I agree to your post Chzn8r.

Original.

Zero Mission was just... meh.

And Chozodia kan kiss my ass. Stealth in Metroid? :|

Plus, Mecha-Ridley... who came up with that lame final boss?
Most definitely the original for me. Kind of a combination between nostalgia factor and challenge. I think NES games, in general, were a lot more brutal in terms of difficulty than modern games. ZM, while it was cool to see newer graphics, just didn't feel entirely right to me. Maybe it was because I had just finished playing Super Metroid for the Nth time.
I really think they're both great games. Zero Mission was a bit on the easy side, but I think that's just because they took a lot of the Super Metroid features and put them into the classic Metroid. Saves instead of passwords, charge beam, missile expansions spread out rather than mainly gotten from bosses, space jump, speed booster, beam combos instead of overwriting them, super missiles, and dare I say MAPS. I think they crossed a line when they decided to add the Chozo statues, though. That's where it went from "updating the game" to spoon-feeding.

In the end, it all depends on rather you prefer a more polished game or a more challenging game. When I want to tear through Zebes and aim diagonally, I'll play ZM, and when I want to wander around aimlessly (though not nearly as bad as it was pre-Zero Mission) and die a whole bunch, I'll play Metroid.
Metroid 1 is really hard! It doesn't have a map or any way of keeping you from going in circles, and there's no quick way of regaining all your health other than killing a whole mess of creatures. I like Zero Mission because I can actually go through the whole game without dying, but I gotta give props to the original metroid. Heck, without Metroid 1 there'd be no Metroid series!

Bottom line: Zero Mission... until I can beat the original...

Hope I'm not replying to late... I really don't now, I mean the original is... well, its the ORIGINAL! Come on, Most good games are the old classics, because a lot of games now, are loaded down with movies and cut scenes, its almost as if there's more movie than game! I agree with some people, you are lead from item to item im ZM as you were in MF (but its not even close to as linear as MF). Whatever happened to the good gameplay that actually required effort? I mean now, you are lead from place to place in almost ever game. Games have lost there edge since the time of the NES, they have gotton easier... Like Zelda, the first zelda was a good challange, but windwaker, was an insult to the series! And Four swords adventure, VERY LINEAR! Not that there's anything wrong with cut scenes... but gees... The Metroid series has remained true to its form for the most part... Up untill echoes, it wasn't really big on the cut-scenses... So, I dunno...
Metroid Zero Mission
I like zero mission better simply because of the gameplay.
Improved graphics+TONES of sequence breaking+
new twist at end
=GREAT GAME
