How is this game going to be delivered?  Is it going to be a rom hack or will it just be its own entity?

edit: Since Kotaku featured this clip yesterday I've seriously watched it like 20 times... so amazing.  My favorite part is where Samus in morph ball enters the water with that lovely splashing sound.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
Well since it's not a ROM hack, I'd go with the latter option
Yeah, so those with USB controllers, get downloading joytokey!

I also love the splash noise. Makes it feel very... realistic.
Nice to see you're still working on your engine/projects

Last time I heard about you, it was over on GameFaqs when you were talking about your Metroid Engine

He said that because you said "QTF", not "QFT".
clearly, QTF stands for "quite the fact".
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No, QTF means "I am on psychoactive drugs."

Ah, the adventures of teaching an ESOL kid our tongue... My mom got this one girlie to go "h'h, h'h, qwere" in teachering her to say "where".  She (my mom) seemed to have a lapse of thinking it was "what" being "q"ed, and thus... well, memory circles.

Could you imagine a trailer based on SR388?  If the inner bowels of the planet are replicated within it... Well, let's just say I'll be quick when usin' the pot.

A site and forum has existed for almost 2 years, but the server has been down for a couple months. I'll try to buy some hosting if I run into some extra money, things are a bit too tight right now to afford it.

Holy freaking god. This looks badass. Great work.

Just another thing to look forward to on my list:

Final Fantasy IV DS
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Tales of Symphonia 2
Mother 3 Translation
Super Metroid: Aegis
Metroid SR388

thats a very good list :P

I guess so. There's just so much good stuff happening this year. It's insane.

And I though Brawl and Mario Kart Wii would take up all my time... well, I guess I was wrong  laugh new

Mario Kart Wii is a time-killer for me. Even online and with my friends that live three blocks away from me.

Back on topic:

I hope this game really has joypad support. Time for me to get an SNES Controller-to-USB adapter.

A standard 8-button joypad will also work just fine.

You could use just a keyboard if you really wanted to, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Wow. This looks absolutely fantastic. I cannot wait for it.  8-)

This game has been in development for about 2 years?  I'll assume the engine, game physics, and all that other stuff is good to go.  Now all that remains, from what I can deduce, is the level designs and/or artwork?

I'd also ask at about what percent the game is completed.  But if you can't answer that - then I'll understand.  Embarassed

I said the site and forum was around for two years, but is now gone.  Wink

The game has been in development since 2005 in some form or another. The soundtrack was mostly completed in 2005.

We cannot reasonably compare a well-funded professional development team with one guy and intermittent contributors, working on job and school breaks etc. All I can say is that it will be done when it's done.

The more help I get, the faster it goes. You probably already read this somewhere else, but this is an entirely new game from the ground up, including all content except some of the basic Samus frames from SM. It's a BIG job. It's unquestionably far beyond the scope of any fan project I've ever seen. I myself did not initially start with something like this in mind, it just snowballed. It was originally supposed to be an 8-bit NES style game, right down to the sound chip limitations etc.

RE: your assumptions:
ROFL, in reality, every aspect of the game progresses at the same time. It's not compartmentalized chronologically. All aspects will likely continue being tweaked and polished and worked on right up until it's finished, from programming to levels to art to everything etc.

This looks better than I can imagine Nintendo doing for Metroid 5.

So... I guess your non-funding can compare, in my opinion.  :)
