Just completed all three games on veteran.  Have to say that this trilogy is a masterpiece of gaming.  I even got a little tear in my eye during the ending credits of MP3 (lame, but I don't care).  While the original controls from MP1 and MP2 will always have a nostalgic value, I have to say that the wii controls seem like they were created for these games.

Nintendo chose well when they placed their most awesome franchise in Retro's hands, let's hope Team Ninja is just as good if not better.

ALSO:  would some kind soul trade 22 friend vouchers with me?

why 22? isn't 15 enough?

i'd do it anyway but i'm still on mp2. it will be a while before i get to mp3 and get lots of vouchers.

I'll take what I can get.

Anyways, I just started replaying Prime on hypermode.  I had expected it to be the same as hard mode on my original version but it is indeed harder  (YES!).  I actually had 6 energy left when I killed the hive mecha!

I figured out which scans I missed on the first playthrough, it was the 2 largest size missile refills.  I'm not used to those since I've only played the NA version and didn't think to scan them as logbook entries.

Another important difference:  your logbook entries are retained from your previous playthrough like they are on MP3.  More importantly, anything you scanned before now scans instantly on the second playthrough.  This is significant because the instant-scan not only applies to logbook entries (which are unnecessary) but to required scans like elevator activations and switches.  This accumulates to a significant savings in time during a speed-run.

that was known already. it's the same as the jp version. it's a nice change anyway since it keeps all of the logbook full always and makes things faster.
i didn't feel the hard mode in the jp version any different. could be wrong since the US version has a few differences.

I've tried SJE, and done it. But I completed that file after I discovered all this cool shit like 2 tank VMR.

Hey Baby Sheegoth,
so that means, that you really did it from the back of the ship, up to the edge with just 3 bombs (like in your video)? I've tried it for about 3-4 hours now and just won't do it. I even got a little bit closer to the edge than you did on your video (the one where you comment, that this is your closest attempt in 6 min. of trying).

To be honest, it's very very hard to believe, that it is doable at all! Please tell me, is there any hint or are there differences between your unrecorded successful jump and the one in the video?

I need help, since I really badly want to do the SJE!! I's so challanging and I love it, but if it might be impossible, hours would've been wasted...

Btw.: HELP! :)

Edit:

I posted a Video: this is MY closest attempt... any hints, tipps or ideas of bringing it to perfection?

Has anybody tried SJF yet. With a freez dash from the ship you might make it. I never got the freezdash to work on the ship but I know its possible. Also, I heard there is a way to solve geo core without graple with a ghettojump. Is there a video of this?

I never performed or saw a freeze-" or "kip-dash". Can somebody post a video doing it or at least explain, how to accomplish one.

Btw.: how can you KNOW, that it is possible? Why so sure?
I mean that I know you can do a freez dash, I don't know if you can make it to the ledge. You can do a freez dash on any ledge that gives you a boost while strafing of the ledge while locked on to an enemy. I have gotten the boost of the ship so the dash should be possible too. Just try it somewhere in the game and you know what I mean. If you time the dash right you will get extra distance compared to a normal dash.

Jagger ftw
Is the freez dash like when you are "about" (accelerate due to gravity on the side of a ledge) to go down a slope, you dash?

EDIT:

OMGGGG I JUST GOT IT WITH COMBAT DASH!

I will try to reproduce it and record it.
Dragoon12345: I could never get it off the back of the ship in the wii version so I discovered a different way. It's a tricky bomb jump off a rock under the ledge that you would dash to for sjf. There is a description of the bomb jump at the end of page 2 if you'd like to try sje this way.

Yeah, I tried for hours trying to get the speed effect off the back of the ship. I've gotten it twice but messed up the jumps both times. To make life easier, when locking onto the seedling make sure he it closest to the door when it closes. Once you make it to the back of the ship, if you hapen to fall off the back, you won't even lose the lock on.

As for geo core's ghetto jump, I have no idea how Baby Sheegoth did it. He said he used a sasuke hop but I don't exacly no where. He hasn't made a video of it yet.
Gu3st, you got up to the ledge from the ship with a combat dash? Or where you standing somewhere else and got up there?

Either way, if this turns out to be true, wouldn't that mean we could once again have SJF?
Jagger ftw
Yeah
Lock on the seedling when its moving from right-> left.

If memory serves right, that is along the lines of the PAL SJF right?
http://www.metroid2002.com/without_boost_space_jump_jpeu.mp4

I didn't think you could get a lot of momentum with the combat dash in Trilogy like the video shows from the dash used to do it there.
How many times did you hit jump gu3st? Once or twice like in MP1?
Also, freeze dashes don't work in this game because you can't scandash at all. (unless you can freeze a combat dash)

and gu3st: send me the SJF/E save please :D

Dragoon: basically that DBJ is about perfect, you just have to shunt it further (really far -.-) down the left turbine of the ship and aim at the part of the platform that looks kinda far away but sticks out much more than any other part. You might also want to try a spring jump when your last bomb explodes to get more than enough height, but this is strangely much harder than it sounds.

Jesus, did NA get the shittiest version ever or what !?

Thanks for the new hope, T3! :)

With "rock" do you mean the tiny edgy rock under the ledge? How can you possibly start your bomb-jump from there? Its like placing a bowling-ball on a nail!!!??? Could you PLEASE make a Video? Did you do a SJE with that method anyway, or is it just an idea?

WHAT? But the combat-dash doesn't include the distance-failure anymore in the Wii-Version. It's impossible to combat dash from the ship, since the combat-dash-jump is muuuuuch too short to reach the ledge! Or did I misunderstood something here? Record your Video, show me ANY Space Jump Early (Wii) and I'm going down on my knees before you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, did you really got up there with a DBJ - with the method of your/my Video -, then give me a clear "yes" and I believe you and keep on trying. :)

Baby Sheegoth, since you seem to be a heavy-pro here, do you think, the combat-method of "Gu3st" could be possible?

Yes, the spot from the left turbine does still work.

I also respect gu3st enough that even before trying I believed it, and after trying it ([noembed][url=[/noembed]) I believe it even more.

Jagger ftw
You need to let it "slide" a bit before dash.
I tried this shit for like 2 hours, nothing.
Unfortunately the spacejump file was erased cause I wanna retry it Shocked.

I released the lock (turned left) towards the end (not sure if it was "after" I landed or before), I also hitted the jump button more than once. (I think).
Thanks. If you get it again send it to me (and do it before Morph Ball :P) and I'll try to record it along the way.
Jagger ftw
I did try vmr on that file before retrying, it was fun ^^. Still failed though.
Lol, how did you fail VMR with SJ? ;P

You're amazing! So, there really seem to be even different ways for SJE/F in MP1-Wii - great! If you could get your next one on record, that would be awesome!

@Baby Sheegoth: thanks! I'll keep it up! ;)
Jagger ftw
@Baby
That was my frist time vmr on wii lol.

@dragon, i'll start recording AS I get it.

You guys can also try the other method, the Beatles still exist after door close (YAY), but I just dunno where to stand to start the dash.
