Possibly, it's going to need to be timed. My guess is it's still faster to fight flaahgra but I could be wrong. What needs to be timed is Samus's ship to chozo's magmoor elavator and Samus's ship to Gathering Hall to varia suit to chozo's magmoor elavator. Also, when you skip varia suit, you'll have to do a longer wallcrawl to Wild which will take some time.
The wallcrawl to Wild is about 2 min slower without fighting flaggy.
Ok, could you time the amount of time it takes to go from Samus's ship to chozo's magmoor elavator? You would have missiles, morphball, morphball bombs and space jump by then. I'm going to try early space jump so I can get a timing on the flaahgra route.

BTW, i've made it to MQA and am trying out the metroid jump. Probably won't make it anytime soon.
Don't look. It's a cat.
Does anyone know of a way to get the early missile in Gravity Chamber without grapple? This is the one missile I'm stuck on right now. I can't seem to find a way to get up to the missile at all. I can get pretty close and I actually found some sort of invisible ledge sitting below the missile, but you can't jump while standing on it for some reason. Any ideas?

Crazy ass ghetto jump.

You think I haven't tried that? o.O

Am I asking about somthing that just can't be done? If I am, just tell me. :P
IT's certainly doable.

I'm trying something like this for MQA. You can't make it with a normal jump so i'm trying to freez dash to the ledge. It's really hard but I bet it's easier than the metroid jump, which i'm not even coming close with.
Yea I tried that forever with a dash off a pirate, didn't work. The angle is just not there.
I beat my previous frigate escape record. It's now 4:20:xx. There were a few mistakes so it could probably still be beaten by a few seconds. I bet a very well done run could be 4:23:xx.
I beat my GC record and did a 4:20:48. :D
I was much better at the GC version than I am at the Wii version. My record for the GC version is 4:25:xx.
I sucked at the GC version, don't know why my time is so high in this version. Faster load times maybe? Luck? Probably both.
Faster load times and spring ball shave off a great amount of time but  they don't compare with dashing and L jumps.
I guess I'm just stupid lucky.

well, i finally got the trilogy and started playing mp1. feels good to be able to scan and read everything now since it was really boring to scan stuff i couldn't read in the jp version (there was 1 token for 100% scans so it had to be done)

so far the game looks to have all the PAL additions, minus the voices (narrator and varia suit malfunction, etc.). i always liked the PAL/JP missile count over the one in the US GC versions. i only beat the frigate and scanned all the stuff on my way. i'll keep playing tomorrow since it is way too late in the night atm.

btw, i like the new menu. looks nice.

edit: i checked out the menu more and saw the screen that sent everyone complaining that the game had 1 file for each game. i wonder why the main slot screen wasn't shown instead since that one tells you the whole status of every game.

• OP won't let you one round him anymore, the last shot of the round doesn't register.

Weird... because I just one rounded him on my battle I had earlier. I used four super missiles, and all four registered and took him out like in the original NA version. I never had to take him down a second time and go through the recharge cycle again.

And as Sasuke said, 100% items AND 100% scans gives you two silver tokens, so you need to do it if you want to unlock everything.
Can you also beat Omega pirate in two pools in this version? Also some tips for MQA. What I did was kill every metroid in the room except the one far back in the room. Once yuo jump on the invisible platform the metroid will be activated and chases you. Now follow Zoidi's vid but once you have frozen the metroid continue to shoot ice bullets. Not against the metroid but to the ground for example. This is for the timeing of your jump. I think you have to shoot 4 more ice bullets and then jump on the metroid, the metroid will pull upwards, once you're at the top use your 2nd jump to get on the ledge. The time frame between your first jump and your second jump is very small. If you jump on the metroid to early you wont be able to use your 2nd jump anymore. Once you're on the platform be carefull cos the metroid will try to attack you, at least thats what he did to me. I was able to kill him before he touched me but I guess if he gets you, you should not morph but just wait until he is finished with sucking on you. Hope this helps. I can try to make a video but I think I nailed the trick after about 2 to 3 hours so I'm not sure if I will try it again.

Just to clarify what I was talking about, I got him in four shots from the Supers, which means four times he jumped from one pool to another to try and recharge his armor, counting the first jump to a pool after knocking out his armor as one jump. But I killed him before he was fully charged up, which is what "one round" means I would expect, right? (I was on Veteran by the way if that wasn't clear already)

I didn't know you could kill him in two jumps, unless you're talking about beating him on Normal difficulty? (Theoretically everything takes less damage to kill on Normal right?) If not, I don't see how you could get two supers to fire that fast before he jumps to the next pool.
I was on normal and using Plasma shots.

What now boys?
“Well done is better than well said”
That looks like Root Cave, correct? Discovered in the GCN by CtrlAltDestroy bitd, iirc. BabySheegoth and T3, you guys are kicking ass; keep up the good work. Thanks for the videos too.

SW 23 = Chozo Ice Temple, discovered by BoostR. Him and CAD alone discovered 16 SW's in MP1. They fixed my fucking sw! :(
SW 16 = Life Grove, and the coolest SW ever. Yes discovered by CAD, he's my absolute idol.

EDIT: Discovered a new distance jump! It's basically a reverse ghetto jump.

On normal mode, you can kill OP in two pools using super missiles. In a speedrun you wouldn't have super missiles so you would need to use plasma. I can kill him in three pools using plasma and in one round. There is never any case where you should need more than one round to kill him.

Thanks for the tips on MQA without spider ball Stefan. I will be trying it out and hopefully i'll be able to make it now.

Good job with the secret worlds Baby Sheegoth. Also, how did you make it to spinner 3 in Geothermal Core without raising the first two spinners and how do you perform the new jump?

Geo: Grapple beam and some lucky backstrafing.

Jump: Do a full height space jump then on your way down hold forward and hit a slant, then jump as soon as you hit the slant. It's kinda confusing, and I borrowed it from Halo 3.
