I think not.

Recently, I've been hearing from some gamers I know that the Metroid series is being overloaded, with the number of titles set to more than double within two years' time and this is cited as causing a watering-down effect with each successive release.  One thing some of these guys like to say is, "How many times are we going to fight our way through Zebes?"  Among other things such as recycling Mother Brain as a boss and reusing Ridley over and over.

I have to look at each of these people and say, "you're a dumbass."

The relative flood of Metroid titles compared to the near decade of drought has been a pleasant experience for a Metroid fan such as myself.  When you finish one, another one is sure to follow before long.  And the recycling of boss characters is fine by me since every game a "reused boss" is in gives you a unique encounter with them.

Though I doubt there are any such people here, I was wondering if anyone has experienced any decrease in satisfaction from playing so many new Metroid games released so close together?  Or if anyone thinks too many Metroid games too fast might churn out a shoddy title (some would call it Fusion)?

Yes, Metroid Zero Mission sucks, I cannot find this *}~\# power bomb

Just kidding :)

Hm, I dont think that the series is getting worse with each title. And the number of games isnt to high anyway (think of Final Fantasy :P )

I mean, Prime was fantastic, Zero Mission is nearly Super Metroid, and Fusion... well Fusion, I enjoyed it. It was a very exciting game, more than Super I think. It wasnt the best title, but it had its own qualities.

Now lets see what Prime 2 brings and then we can bring the topic again :)
metroid overload? yeah, i had a metroid overload, try going through all 5 metroid games in ONE WEEK, i actually got bored and sick of metroid....

at least till wednesday.  where i'll go through zero mission.

then i'll take a couple week break and start playing them once again.
Playing too much of anything will sour it.  S'Why it will be a while before I can go back to Prime.  I played it so much, I just couldn't stand the though of holding the GameCube controller any longer.

But I will go back.  Time and time again.

And that's what makes Metroid games great.

I dont think that there is an overload of metroid at all. I like how they are giving us some new games every two years. That way, we can get plenty of metroid games but still have them far enough apart that they keep up demand. Trufully, i like how they are releasing more games; it keeps my metroid interest up.

And one more thing: The day that metroid becomes overloaded is the day that no one will love mario, and i dont think that will happen any time soon!
I went a little crazy playing Fusion because I beat the Game 27 times with 100%!

Shocked

Wow. 27 times... that's a TON for ANY game...
Once I started playing, there was no stopping me.

That is crazy, but is it as crazy as completing Zero Mission twice in one sitting? I don't know whether to be proud of myself for that, or deeply worried.
Ill try that, if I can find a store that has the game in stock!
Given that I am such an avid Mega Man fan, and that series has over 100 titles to its name, I say "bring 'em on" with the Metroid series. With an eight year drought while Nintendo thought how best to revamp or otherwise bring back Metroid was long enough, and I think we're long overdue for such sequels. I also agree with the way Nintendo goes about reusing bosses - each time they're unique in some form or fashion, which is pretty cool.

Although the fact that they've actually blown up Zebes and SR388 (you know Tallon IV is next) does limit them in some fashion, I guess. Or not.

All of the new Metroid games have kept me satisfied, Fusion, Prime, and now Zero Mission. (from what I've played) I agree with you...I'd much rather have this than a huge drought. Nintendo still has the magic. I also agree that people who say that are dumbasses, They've obviously never played and beaten a single Metroid game if they say such a thing about a wonderful series such as Metroid.

explain.
I liked Fusion a lot -- but not enough to play it twenty-seven times. That just seems unreasonable to me.
Im probably going to do the same with Zero Mission.
