Gosh, you people don't get anything. It's just showing that something's wrong with the planet. I mean, if you were walking along, minding your own business, and this huge worm thing popped out of the ceiling, wouldn't you think something's wrong?
Gosh, you people don't get anything.
If the readers consistently fail to understand the humor, generally the fault lies with the comic maker. Also a few points: Mixing bittages is BAD. It makes the comic look sloppy. Things suddenly happening without explanation (i.e. the appearance of pencils in the last strip, Kraid's pencil-beard-thing in this one) leads more to confusion than humor.
That and the whole "ZOMG, t3h palnt iz kurpt!!1!1" shtick was pretty much taken from Planet Zebeth, which, given your use of some sprites that the author of that comic made, leads me to believe that you have read it. Either way, reading this should give you some idea of how to improve your strips.

When did I do that? There are a couple of sprites that were on this computer, and I had no idea where they came from, like the Kraid ones, and I'm sure that Nintendo made those.
The thing with the plant was all my idea. I thought it up myself.
I really seemed to have missed the joke in the latest comic. I thought Kraid was eating a giant almond or something. :-s
you and me both. i'm actually quite good at spotting punchlines, or jokes etc. these seem to just have them hidden somewhere so deep even the author has trouble finding it
your use of some sprites that the author of that comic made
When did I do that?
The "Kraid facing towards the camera" and the "Kraid with his arm out" sprites... although the latter of which does look modified... Oh well. You should read Planet Zebeth anyway... it's pretty funny. (And where else can you see Simon Belmont as the Crocomire Hunter? :P) And sorry if I seemed a little standoffish back there... I was kinda cranky and needed a nap. :P

The "Kraid facing towards the camera" and the "Kraid with his arm out" sprites...
So that's where it came from. Oh well, I've used it now, haven't I? The "Kraid with his arm out" I made myself, and I was like "man that looks bad". Crocomire Hunter? Like the Crocodile Hunter? Isn't he dead? (R.I.P. Steve)
A giant almond.... Something there gives me an idea, but I don't know what yet....

wow, im not the only one. that was sad i have to say. the idea might be there but spend more time thinking of a plot. the basics are kinda there though. better than me.
Eh, it's still early enough to get a plot going. I'm working on it, but most ideas I have to trash for one reason or another. Well, that's the way it goes. Feel free to PM me with ideas, if you'd like.
Okay no. Seriously dude, stop and take a look at the comments you're getting. You need to take a good hard look at your comic and rearrange how you're approaching it, because the responses you're getting are about 98% negative. And you're even asking people for help thinking of a plot? Seriously.
I'm working on it, okay? Just let me get my thoughts together, and I'll come up with something! Don't push me too hard, I'll get there at my own pace. I don't need people giving me useless posts about how almonds get big! I was going to change how I did it, but apparently people here don't appreciate the tentative beginnings of something that could be great. Was Metroid a complete success as soon as somebody thought it up? No! It needed careful tending, and a good handful of people to get it going, and now it's rolling along quite nicely!
I disagree very much with your last statement, but we'll leave that for another day.
Anyway, you should really have the basic, overall plot already worked out before you even start constructing the first comic. If you don't, and you're trying to make a plot–based comic, it's just going to fail like it currently is.
Gamma, what you should do is take some time and just either full on write or make a very detailed outline of the plot for your comic, tweak it or redo the whole damn thing as many times as necessary until your happy with it. After that get some people to look over it make suggestions for improvement, then start on the comic itself. If you don't really know the plot at this point we definitely won't get it.
