This was actually the first metroid game i ever played, before i even knew what a metroid was.

It was my sister's high school boyfriend's, and he had like given me all his gameboy games. Even then, i didn't touch it for like 2 years, and when i finally did play it, for some reason i couldn't even kill the final boss.

This game holds a special place in my heart, much like SoM, not because of it's gameplay compared to others of its genre, but because it was the first of that genre that i owned and had beaten.

Now i'm just waiting for them to do a Return of Samus remake for GBA ;)
Thread title:
Bah, I've had enough goddamned remakes. But having it as a special unlockable in Prime 2 would kickass. Either that or Super, but Super seems a bit unlikely.
I'd personally like to see this as an unlock-able in Prime 2, but it should have Super Metroid-quality graphics (i.e. SNES).
originally, there was going to be a metroid 2 remake for GBC when it first came out, I'm kinda mad that it never made it.

This game was one of my very first games, EVER. and also the only metroid game i'd ever played for a good 10 years.  I recently played through it, 2:15
not sure about percentage, because it wasn't noted in the ending.

I can't wait to see some of the Omega or Zeta metroids done in 3D, and im really annoyed about how crappy the Omega metroid in Fusion was, compared to the ones in metroid 2.
This was the first 'troid game i ever played...

...sure it was for about 3 minutes in a dentist's office, but it was still the first. Laughing
Doesn't metroid 2 work really well on the GBC? In the same way as Pokemon yellow?

A kind of half GBCC game, I heard the GBC development team were the same guys who made Metroid 2 so they put some extra code in M2 to take advantage of the new machine on the grounds they new the GBC was around the corner.
that may have purely been done later. one of the color palettes on the super game boy is suspiciously perfect for return of samus.
Maybe thats what I was thinking of, replace GBC with supergameboy in my previous post and I sound really cool! A friend of mine who was insanely into importing Japanese Nintendon games WAY back in the 80's told me the story but I guess I got it wrong:)
indeed, return of samus was on the front of the super game boy packaging.
I'm all screwed up in the order I'm beating Metroid games.

The first Metroid game I ever beat was Super Metroid, then Metroid Fusion, then Metroid Prime, and yesterday I just beat Metroid II.  I started playing classic Metroid today.  :?

I just have to add that Metroid II was a great game and it's a shame that it was never ported to GBC.  But, on the bright side, it might someday get a makeover on a better system. It's certainly the most overlooked Metroid game, what with Super Metroid and now Prime but it deserves some time in the spotlight.

I feel the same as Faust. It was a really fun game and the first metroid game i was intoduced to(partially b/c we didn't have a NES yet). Of course, it was a while before i actually played it, but when i did, i found it fun and challanging. A remake of it wouldn't seem so bad, especailly if it could be put on the Gamecube. Seeing it on tv makes it look so much more clearer than on those tiny GB screens.

It seems definetly possible that Metroid 2 could be an unlockable in MP2 like in the old one. You know it WILL link with Zero Mission or something. You KNOW it would. Don't deny it.  Wink

You shouldn't do that.
Neither of you acted right.
