I recently found out about a code that enables the use of the unknown items as soon as they're collected. I decided to do a 100% run, and so far, it's a blast. A lot of weird stuff has been happening though.

I decided to follow the 'intended' route for no particular reason. I kinda suck at bomb jumping right now (haven't played in a while...), so I did use the Space Jump to grab Varia on the way to Norfair after Kraid. What I find funny is that the Plasma Beam and Space Jump don't allow for any sequence breaks that aren't already possible.

The Gravity Suit though, that's the real gamebreaker. It gives you access to that Power Bomb Tank in Norfair, which leads to a whole bunch of breaks.

So I headed straight for Chozodia. The top door took me straight into the Ruins, and interesting stuff happened.

If you head to the start point, you can collect the map. Then, take the tunnel backward (go outside) and the short cutscene will play. Unless you leave the ship via the above door, the Power Bomb Tank out there doesn't exist (the block that hides it is just a block).

I found that I could explore the entire Mothership freely. Its 'state' was that of the suitless sequence. Pirates would spot me, the music would explode, ect. The tube though? It wouldn't crack. The only way out of Chozodia was through the top door. I could enter Chozodia proper through the lower door by using the Energy Tank shinespark tunnel, but not back out.

I got trapped in the ruins. You know how you get your suit back, go through the room with the water down the bottom, and exit into that tall shaft? The top and bottom doors, the ones behind Screw Attack blocks that lead to the Chozo Test area and lava room, those doors don't work. Samus just runs into the wall. The Missile Tank hidden near the ledge doesn't exist either. If you drop through the crumble blocks into the save room in this area, you'll get stuck. The door that leads to the shaft doesn't work, and the underwater Super Missile Tank doesn't exist; it's just a graphic.

I haven't been to Tourian yet, but I've managed to obtain all but six items:

The underwater Super Missile Tank in the Chozo Test area
The Energy Tank that requires a shinespark in the tall shaft
The Missile Tank hidden near the ledge used to conserve the charge on the way down
The Super Missile Tank in the lava room shortly after
The Missile Tank in Wrecked Tourian
And the Power Bomb Tank in Wrecked Tourian

I did find something interesting, though. If you head to Crateria via the Kinetic Orb Cannon underneath the game start-point in Brinstar, Samus' ship will be missing. This means that the state of the room was the endgame one, and I was able to collect the Power Bomb Tank above Samus' ship.

I wonder, would I be able to enter Tourian the back way? Would it be wrecked?

While in Chozodia, I never went to the Chozo Test or Mecha Ridley. I'll have to check those out as well.

I exited Chozodia by the top exit while the Space Pirates were pursuing me. The alert ended just before I left the room, and back in Crateria, the Chozodia music (the one that plays when you escape the Pirates) persisted no matter where I went. Entering save rooms, taking elevators, even turing the game off and on again wouldn't get rid of it. At least it's not the rehashed Brinstar theme...

I don't think the Motherbrain battle will be too different to usual. The suitless sequence though...

See, because I've already been through the Mothership, all of the red, green, and yellow doors have been opened. If they remain so during the suitless sequence, I might be able to reach Mecha Ridley.

So uh... Is this news to anyone?

I haven't bothered to try it, but I thought I recall some kind of crash involved, or being unable to complete the game, if you go into chozodia early. Sounds pretty cool, though.

Solution? Well, there is a hack for Fusion that allows sequence breaking. Maybe a similar hack could be made for this game to fix the problems with getting the unknown items early, and you could combine that with a hack to turn items off.

Hell, there should be a hack that would let you play through the whole game as Zero Suit samus, complete with her Paralyzer, but it would actually do damage to enemies (like a normal beam), and it would stack with other beams (and you could use Morphball). Why use the paralyzer, though? Well, it can break bomb blocks, which will allow early Kraid, and once you have all of the beams it can be completely gamebreaking.

And the hack would also let you keep your sh*t in the regular suitless segment, which would always be nice.

Pretty sure there is a suitless hack. I'm not into hacks, personally, so I don't recall the name of it, sorry.

Errr there aren't any hacks of fusion at all... The Debug Menu is just a single cheat code, and it doesn't really allow sequence breaking in the sense you're claiming it does...

I like Big Butts and I can not lie
There is a hack for Fusion that allows you to do any event at any time:

And here's the Zero Suit patch
hm didn't know about that hack; didn't seem like it's finished or anything though.

But yeah, regardless, I'm not really interested in hacks either; discussion about hacks should go in the hacks forums - https://m2k2.taigaforum.com/board/hacks_and_fan_games__general2.html

Good idea. You know what could really use a hack, though?

Other M. A shame nobody has the ROM/Sourcecode as far as I'm aware of.
no. one. cares. about. other. m.
