There's not too many bad people on #jzd, it's that they probably want to see proof that you can actually pull something off, in which they would give you advice and criticism.

You either get some jocks that won't tell you crap, or you get seriously helpful people.

Hmm. I suppose that's true. I think it's because we see a lot of hacks die shortly after the idea for it was born. So without proof of at least a good start, we tend to get pessimistic.
the metroid is a lie !
you might wanna change your first suit colour (its kinda taken by me)
so i would apreciate it if you didnt copy(even if you wasnt aware of it)
and ppl may get confused between hacks because of a suit colour.
(even tho my level design is somewhat unique)

if you really like the suit that much then keep it

(btw change grav it looks quite disturbing to the eyes it might look good in game but ive no evidence)

after all that shit i might still wanna work with you (depending if i find the time and if you want me to do sounds interesting)
Saying people will get confused between your hacks based on suit colors is like saying people will confuse SMR with the original because they have the same suit colors.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
That's what I think. Also, by this time, every suit color imaginable has been used at one time or another. Saying I can't use a suit color that's been used basically means I can't use a suit lol. And thanks, I'll try to give everybody who wants to help a good portion to do, like an entire area like Brinstar or something like that. Also, as to the suit color, I'm pretty much decided in going with dark blue. I'll work on making it actually look good though lol -)

So, anybody interested in actually helping with this? Oh, and I've got the gravity suit now, so I'll attach that to the next message.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Here is the attachment, since I couldn't add it to the last one b/c it was an edit. Tell me what you think, though I think it looks like Houston a lot.

attachment:
It's good, but I would consider some contrast.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
What kind of contrast? In comparison to other suits? To itself? What do you want me to contrast? Also, I'm probably going to stick with this, seeing as it looks good, and it's a whole lot of work to change everything in that list, one by one, and I'm almost done with that now lol.

So you'd be willing to help me out? You can probably have an entire area, and since you're the first, you get to pick which area.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think the new suit looks excellent, myself. Contrast isn't always what's best; gradation generally is.
Green-Kirby, ROAR!
The problem is the whole suit is in one color. That makes it look bad. Try make the part that is normaly red in some other color.
That's exactly what I was talknig about GK. It seems no one else understood.

Thanks. I just finished putting all the suits onto a clean rom. The first rom I had, I used for testing and getting used to SMILE, so now I just put the suits all onto the rom I'm going to use for my fullhack.

I'll work on that, although I think it goes well with the first two suits.

Ah, didn't quite get that. Thanks.

Edit: W8, nvm. I just looked back at it, and it looks fine like that. Works well to have one color scheme. Also, it'd still be a lot of work to change it on everything, like the heat, speed boost, etc.
Also, I won't be able to put screenshots up yet, b/c I'm w8ing for at least one person to pick a spot so I know what area I can work on. I'm letting the first person get the pick of any section they want. So, anybody up to the task?

Well it's opinion. But keep in mind that it's the players opinion that matters if they will play this hack or not. :P

If your not changing it to some thing good because it is to much work. Then hacking is not some thing for you. I can tell you that right away.

The only thing more important than this about hacking is:

MAKE LOTS OF BACKUPS. I recommend one after every 1 or 2 room(s).

It's not that it's too much work, it's that it looks fine, and it's too much work to make it look worse (in my opinion). Yellow or red wouldn't exactly go well with it. Also, with smile, in some of those spots, if you try to change the head, you change part of the body, too, so it doesn't look as good, or one piece.

About that, for some reason, SMILE doesn't make backups for me, so I just test after every couple of changes. Again, anybody interested in being the first to claim a section? If so, email me ASAP at the address I have written in my signature.

Ehh. . . The way to backup your hack files are copy/paste (room-by-room will take up more memory, since obviously, each backups are 3 megabytes or so each). If you look in SMILE's backups folder, you'll see a load of backup IPS patch files (they're really not worth the time to patch).
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Ah, thank you. Also, would you mind explaining your signature? It doesn't really make sense to me lol.

Ah, it's just a multi-color stupidity stunt, plus whatever I'm working on (or else a random phrase) and my MKWii FC.

Back on-topic:
You sure some people that don't have seeing problems can see the black suit in some entirely dark environment (like pre-Phantoon WS)?
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Well, originally, I was trying to have the gravity suit entirely invisible, except for the head. It didn't work out, it just made it all the way black. Also, in a dark environment, you would see the motion of the suit, unless you were sitting still. You would also see the visor, since it's bright, and the SM people who first made the game made it so it glows in a dark area. Have you noticed that?

The only place I seem to notice is in dark elevator rooms (think Brinstar-Norfair elevator). I guess you can make FX settings to turn on visor light.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Really? Hm...
I noticed it when you first enter Crateria, when you are almost down to the shaft with all the purple thin platforms. I noticed the glow in there.
Hi there

I've liked what I have saw so far and am interested to work with you if you wish

You can obviously see what i can do first before you make your mind up :)
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Yes! My first person! lol what do you want to do? A mapping area, a section like Brinstar or something, or graphical work like modifying what enemies look like? Also, during my searches through SMILE, I found a couple of unused enemies that would work out really well in the game. My only question about them is, what does it mean when it says they 'possess' and enemy?

Lol I havnt really delved into the enemy section yet but I see myself as more of a level editor and would like to take on Crateria if thats okay?

Again wait until you see what I can do first because I really do not wish to ruin your hack at all and then that way you can tell me what you have in mind for it :D
Fear Me! (Or else...)
The hack's just started, since nobody else would join for a bit. And yes, it's fine if you level edit. I only request that you leave the area where the ship lands mostly alone enemy/item wise, b/c that ought to be a safe room for you to save, and have a brief respite, and not really have to do much item hunting. What say you?
