m2k2 real life get-together

sda (which is the same as m2k2; it's where speed runs are posted) has announced our get-together (can't really call it a convention yet) and i was wondering who all from m2k2 wants to meet me, ark and others from both m2k2 and sda somewhere on the east coast of the us this winter (click that link for more details; not everything has been decided yet). as i said in my first post there, i'd be willing to pick people up who are between west texas where i live and the get-together location.

While it sounds like it'd be cool to finally meet some of you guys, I doubt I'd be able to get there. I'm about to enter my senior year of college at the beginning of September, so things are going to be tight for me until about May of next year from here on out.

Yeah, I get about 3 weeks off between semesters, but once I get to that point I have a feeling I'm going to be too busy trying to add things to my portfolio to do much else.

This sounds like a lot of fun, and I hope I can make it, but I'll have to make sure. And is this going to be a yearly thing, once in awhile, every few years, or what? Are we going to have sort of activity things, like video games, movies, some people may want to share something they've written, artwork, etc.?

I'm not really one of the organizers, but I doubt it'll be yearly: it all depends on how this one goes. I'm sure we'd have another if everyone has a blast at this one.

As far as activities go, you can bet on there being plenty of games to play and probably speed runners playing right in front of you. There'll most likely be other, non–video game stuff as well (like movies, tabletop games, etc.).

I'd rather not go to a casino full of crackpots and smokers. Normally, a lot of people I know don't seem to appreciate LV (they say, you're there, and yay. What the heck's next?)

It seems that you don't always hear from the West Coast (I always hear a lot about New England on the contrary).

That's funny, most people I know find they don't have nearly enough time to do all the things there are to do.

While I love Las Vegas (how could one possibly not have anything to do there?), it definitely wouldn't be a good location for an m2k2sda meetup. And nah, some, if not most, users aren't twenty-one.

yeah you're right, vegas wouldn't be ideal. When you say it's gonna be back east in the wintertime, I think COLD though.

Eh, colder than Vegas, sure, but you can expect it to be somewhere between thirty and forty degrees by 2 pm. It doesn't get much colder than that until February. Most Februarys 'round here are frequently in the 'teens most days.

I wish I could go... I'm from Michigan. But that's a good idea, we should go to Retro so we can beg for invisable ledges and the IBJ in the whole Prime series. I heard a few months ago that Retro's going to make a Zelda game. Lets make them put invisable ledges in that one too.
