lolwut? I have no favorites there...

EDIT: lulz, the videos are gone now. gogo embargos.

This is the preview video. The others are probably around, too.
I have no problem with a story-driven Metroid with voice acting in theory, but in all of these new videos the dialogue/acting is at a cheesy, low-budget sci-fi level of quality. The gameplay looks excellent in terms of the immediate action (controls, environment interaction, fighting), but the long-term flow of the game seems to rely purely on the story, as opposed to item collection and exploration. Since the story looks like crap, that's a huge problem.

Does nobody else find it downright awkward to listen to dialogue that's written and acted as if this was just another sterotypical sci-fi flick? I've seen people praising it outright. The only thing that's being done right in terms of dialogue is that, thank God, they haven't given Samus any lines.
I'm still recovering from Space Pirate gray.

From what I've seen, the longer cutscenes look like they're generally going to be overdone and cheesy, even the ones without any dialogue. I'm just hoping there aren't that many.
...

Checkpoints?!

They want to make the game eisier?!

Now halo fans can say Metroid is a copy of Halo and will probably be right.

wha...!?

why checkpoints? is that because of the pansies that died 3781254793 times against the boost guardian?

also, who expects high quality voice acting from a Nintendo game? i'm surprised there's voice acting...

*has a Sunshine flashback*

that's why Nintendo games are better without voice acting.

oh well
*waits for next week*
Retro is not Nintendo. The voice acting is actually good in this game.

...with the possible exception of purple lady, who made me cringe.

As for checkpoints, FINALLY. I can't tell you how annoying it was dying and having to trek across the entire damn planet to get where you need to go.
:P Ideally, you shouldn't be dying - both from the perspective of good game design on Retro's part, and also from the perspective of not sucking on your part. ^___^
Unless there are instant-kill pits and instant-kill morph ball squishers in MP3, I'm still turning off the Wii and restarting from the last save when I die. (Like I did in my first play through Hunters)

you can just reset the wii though the main menu.
