it doesn't help that i'm not ready to talk about why i'm doing all this just yet so you guys can't possibly be as much help as i'd like you to be atm
Club 27 Goals
is it still the same plan as when you posted about it in the anime thread?

I'll keep it secret~
red chamber dream
yep.

just removed visual novel because those are really just adventure games. also because the damn japs killed my grandfather.
Aren't they a little bit too linear to be considered adventure games (well, save for Radical Dreamers, maybe)?
red chamber dream
maybe. do you think they should have their own genre?

also lol @ idkbutlike2 being a surprise weeaboo
Hey, I've tried everything... But didn't like it all.
why don't you just use all genres that apply for each game?
red chamber dream
i want a very basic one or two genre system. going to handle more in-depth descriptions like "tactical" in a different way.
Oh, and yeah, I think they do warrant their own genre, I guess.
red chamber dream
ok it's back. i've only played like one visual novel so i don't actually know anything about them.
You've never played one of the old Kojima ones?
red chamber dream
never played a kojima game.
red chamber dream
actually never played the original playstation at all except for a few times at my cousins'.
Oh, well that sucks. His are pretty much the only ones I liked (Snatcher and Policenauts, NOT the dating sims).
red chamber dream
i policed urmom's snatch with my nuts
How long were you waiting to use that one?
red chamber dream
yeah see i look on wikipedia and it calls it an adventure game
red chamber dream
i'm really wondering why they need to be differentiated, it seems like "visual novels" are just the direction japanese adventure games headed while american adventured games turned into monkey island and the like
red chamber dream
like if an american made a visual novel it would just be called an adventure game
Mainly because they're more story driven and a lot less driven by puzzles and such. Well, again, Radical Dreamers is the exception.
red chamber dream
hmm ok, i guess i'll leave it on

LOL how ironic, the least "visual novel"-like game of the bunch gets categorized as a visual novel on Wikipedia.

can anyone think of another, more broad way of describing survival horror games? i really don't think any of the other genres listed accurately describe resident evil, for instance, which is why it's on the list.
Resident Evil can go under action, IMO.
