In Prime, when I went to fight Ridley, I easily beat him using the wavebuster technique.

It was so simple. Wait till he lands, boost into him, right before he goes to charge, fire the wavebuster and let hime have it! Then ya have to replenish your missiles, because after that, I only had 45 missiles, out of 250!

so if anyone thinks this is cheap, say so, or if neat, say so too.

Do you want me to continue?

Nah, i find it way too fun...

Personally, I don't think it's cheap at all. Everyone's entitled to play the game their own way. The Wavebuster is my favourite weapon, so I used to use it on Ridley (and Prime) all the time. However, when I started doing low percent runs, 5 missiles wasn't nearly enough to use the Wavebuster, so I used the Plasma, and I have ever since.
I never use the plasma beam unless I didn't collect enough missiles.  If I did, I will use super missiles/wavebuster or super missiles/plasma beam, but never plasma/plasma.  It never seems to work for me for some strange reason.

I also have another problem with Ridley and (not suprisingly) the Alpha Blogg from Echoes.  I can never dodge their charges.  Never. Ever.  No matter how many times anyone else does it, I can't.  No one I know personally can dodge Ridley, but everyone can dodge AB's dashes.
My favourite way of killing Ridley, though, is with Ice Beam, and no charging. No boosting, either. That's fun.
everybody knows it's true
missiles, super missiles, boost ball, and missiles

put all together and go crazygonuts
It cost me 50 dollars to use the Wavebuster on Meta Ridley, so I'd hardly call that cheap.
Beware: off duty ninja

have you tried the dash jump to get out of the way? it works so good it's like this little technique was made for the meta ridley battle(and sj first. . . .best sb trick ever)  As far as the alpha blogg goes, I always dash when it starts to open its mouth all the way(before it hits you) and this is consistent for me. .. hope it helps

as for using the wavebuster on ridley, I tried it twice, thinking wow, cool, but then i found this site and learned how to hand ridley's ass to him on a platter and stopped using this trick. With the missle cost to use the wavebuster, it's not a cheap trick; it's a costly one but fun anyways
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I find it to be a good reason to get all 250 missiles, at least you can justify the amount of time it took.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Aren't rapid missiles faster than the wavebuster though (skipping the refill of missiles).
everybody knows it's true
That's what I thought, because using wave buster takes 2x + 95 missiles when rapid fire takes only 20
The reason why i said cheap or neat, well, is because the wavebuster prevents ridley from ever hurting you!

Thats why.
everybody knows it's true
by then, you should have about 7-12 energy tanks if not speed running, so whats the point?

To prove you have t3h 1337 skillz by not taking ANY damage.
I just made this thread to see 3 things:

- To see exactly how much the wavebuster is used;

- To see if anyone decided to buy a metroid prime players guide;

- And to see if anyone apart from me had the following(thanks to that guide):
- 250 missiles
- 14 energy tanks
- 8 power bombs

Obviously this proves that everyone has beaten this game at least once and is too bored to redoo another 100% run(i did but forgot several scans, d@mmit!).

Now this proves that after a while, this game dulls out a little bit.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Umm..lots of people have gotten 100%, and lots have gone through many times.

I don't see how this topic proves anything.
Time bomb set get out fast!
How about the nonexistence of God?
soaking through
This could always be a test.

I bought a player's guide, and yeah, I used the strategies in it the first time through the game. After that though, I figured I should try to figure out what's easiest for me.
I'll be back. Maybe...
What? People buy players' guides?

But that's the only thing GameFAQs is for.
But i mean, those cool pictures and the shininess of the players guide is so much better =)
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Well the shiny factor is a definite plus. But  not enough to justify the purchase of a guide.
I run this here hotel of an evening
the only thing i find good about the Players Guides is that they're portable, if you're playing somewhere without internet access, and need help, and because it's easier to navigate, IMO.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah, that does help some, but when you have broad band it just doesn't matter. that's for me though, I don't use guides unless I'm hopelessly stuck.
