I'm curious which game's "hard" difficulty you think is actually the hardest for an oridnary player. By oridnary, I mean running through the game more or less as intended without any speed tricks, breaks, or secret worlds- Basically, the way most of you probably played through it the first time. I'm not very far into my hyper run yet, but I had minor trouble with just the first miniboss. I STILL havent beaten emperor ing on hard in MP2, so right now that gets my vote. But I'm curious how much harder you guys think the end of MP3 is for the typical player. It certanly wasn't much of a challenge on normal (not veteran) so I'm wondering how much harder phaaze gets.

Phaaze is hell on hyper.
Every Bit Counts
Hypermode took forever. I had to go back and get all of the E-Tanks, instead of my usual 3-5 on normal/vetran (I actual had around 8 E-Tanks when I first got to Phazee my first hyper playthrough).

Corruption on Hyper.
Speedrunner
I answer Metroid Prime 3 corruption hyper mode.

-I beat MP 1 hard mode only once many years ago. after game come out in europe. I don,t remember how hard this is. I always speedrun normal mode, probably i try hard mode somedays

-Zero Mission hard mode is joke. This is pretty easy even low-%

-Echoes hard mode is easy if you have 5-more energy tanks and dark suit. Low-% was hell, but still it is probably easiest 3D metroid hard low-% challenge IMO

-Corruption hyper mode is really hard. There is no much difference between normal-veteran. But hyper is hard. Just Phaaze is hell. This very annoying even 14 ET max. Probably i´ll try low-% hyper next, but i think it is still too hard beat phaaze here.
OH ****!!!!
I would have to say hypermode, i died on the easiest bosses such as the defense drone and the steamlord. I died on that part were you had to disable the planetary defense system and the skyway access. To finish it off i've died a total of 20 times to dark samus eventually quiting due to the fact that i accidently hit no when they asked me to countinue or not, and i'm not even doing a percent run of anything.  aiwebs_016 BTW i think you should edit the title of this thread to say "*corruption spoilers*".

It's weird to read so many MP3 responses. I was under the impression people found Corruption too easy, but I guess they mean "Metroid-easy" in that puzzles, items and routes are very out there. I thought Hyper was quite challenging. I wouldn't do it again, because some parts of it are just tedious (Mogenar and Omega Ridley), but it was no walk in the park.

really?  wow! i destroyed phaaze easy.  the PH sheild generator tower thingy though was brutal.

Funny, now that I think about it I recall struggling with Hyper a lot, yet in the whole run I only died once... against Gandrayda.

five against the comando's/whatever in the tower from my previous post.  only place i have ever died.

i was going to say mp2 but i remembered how phaaze made me sweat. i forgot the last time i played a game that hard. mp3 easily takes the cake for hardest metroid game in hard mode. the fact that t has very few speed tricks to ease the pain adds up too (you can't do stuff like boost on ridley, early pb on boost guardian or SA on emperor ing 3 to any of the bosses in mp3. SA on gandrayda is the closest but she's still a bitch to beat)

that's also a first in the series. no other game can be a pushover and a bitch at the same time only by changing difficulties. in mp1 hard is not so much different from normal and in mp2 the boost guardian is equally as annoying. in mp3, you can kill bosses with just 1 hper mode use in normal while in hyper they're extremely tough in comparison.

proves that everyone who said mp3 was easy only beat it in normal and shelved it.

Even though zm is extremely easy, it does take the cake for difficulty in one category, 100% because the final boss gets muuuuuuch harder instead of stupidly easy like in all of the other games with 100%.

They were actually not that hard since you had the items to beat them at that level of power. Just a long process, i beat it 100% thats saying something their.  laugh new

These responses make me think i'll probably never beat hyper lol :D

I can't even do the simplest tricks in super metroid other than infinite bomb jumping and single wall jumping, so I'm pathetic compared to anyone here  Embarassed

i would say iron ted is second after phaaze. he became really tough on 100% hard runs.

Mean you MZM last boss?
He is extremely easy. grin new
Iron Ted is only bit tought 10% hard runs because it is bit random, but 100% hard run you have very good weapons. It is piece of cake destroy his missiles with wave beam & power bombs.
I must say that Hypermode in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the hardest difficulty level in a Metroid Prime game.  It is comparable to Hard mode in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, but enemies and bosses take longer to kill (in comparison) and some areas can be a bit annoying to run through.  Here's how I would rank the difficulty levels from easiest to hardest:

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Normal)
Metroid Prime (Normal) = Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Veteran)
Metroid Prime (Hard) = Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Normal)
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Hard)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Hypermode)

Netheir can i but i almost beat hypermode....just need to beat dark samus.>_<
Tahngarthor: Frankly I'm worried about my Hyper playthrough too, especially since I don't want to do another 100%... But as for the techniques (especially in Super Metroid), my best advice is to practice, practice, practice...
And if you think you aren't very good compared to other people here, look at me-- this is my fourth post! At least you can claim to have some longevity. (Plus, I'm awful at infinite bomb jumping in Super Metroid ;) )

As for the most difficult game: For now I'm going to say Metroid Prime 2, as I didn't know about ANY of the boss tricks in it at the time of my hard 100% (which took 14 hours, eek!) javascript:void(0);

No.
Well thanks, man, looking at it after I posted I realised that.
Though I am quite oblivious to most things non-Metroid, so I appreciate the help.

I would have to say Hypermode, though I haven't really gotten into the "hard" modes of the other games. Even so the mode is really difficult for me. I almost died on the Olympus, but the Bryyo Turrets are proving to be a challenge. When the pirates enter hypermode, I barely have enough energy to take them and their defense is high to the point that even my Hypermode is no match for them. Korakk was also a major pain too, but Rundas was quite easy. In fact, he's the easiest boss I've faced so far in Corruption's HyperMode. Overall though, it's a real challenge.

Yes it seems rundus is easy no matter what difficulty.
So far Zero Mission hard mode remains what has frustrated me the most. MP3 Hyper is tough in the later parts, especially Pirate Homeworld, but it's still nothing I haven't been able to do on the 2nd or 3rd try. I think something needs to take me around 10 tries before I really consider it hard. We'll see if my opinion changes once I get to Phaaze, though. I'm scared :(
