Hi, I'm Arkarian. I've been reading these forums and visiting this site for months...never really joined until a few days ago, though. Anyway, Metroid has always been one of my favourite game series, and these forums are the best around so here I am.

Hi, I am illy.  I wanted to join this site to reply to kip's sequence breaking history...  I know many people here already.  Um....  that's it....  I think....
Hi - I'm MonsterERB.  I'm a mod over at SCU, but I occasionally lurk here.  Glad to join the forum over here, mainly to keep track of what's going on in Metroid Prime speed running.
...
And, illy forgot to tell you... he's a girl.  Really, he is.  Wink
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Really?  I was still trying to figure that out at SCU.

Sorry, illy. Embarassed

SCU forums are generally very good.
You're definitely welcome here, MonsterERB.
Hello, I'm Zero...I like to speedrun through Metroid games with sequence breaking.I'm currently speedrunning through MZM and
finishing Metroid Prime. I've never played SM or M2:RoS but hopefully Ebay will result in a good price for both..I think that about sums up my introduction...

Oh and I tend to send my sentaces with a line of three dots like this...

I forget how I found this site, but the stuff here is really interesting.
Maybe my first accomplishment should be varialess run in MP..Ah who am I kidding, I'd probably die at the third room in Magmoor (Sorry spelling eludes me) Caverns  :) ...
soaking through
A group of three dots is generally known as an ellipsis.  And I'm pretty sure you spelt Magmoor correctly...  There's some really random information for you...
Yeah I wasn't sure of the order I should put the info so I just decided to put it in a random order.
soaking through
No, my information was random.  Yours was very relevant.
I'm not overly fond of intro threads, but I do try to do the right thing when joining a new community, so here goes.  As some of you may know from my comments on the GameFAQs boards, I'm an audience rather than a participant, Metroidwise; I'm pretty new to the series (first I ever saw was SM in Dec 02 and I didn't get to play again for eight months or so) and have very poor eye/hand coordination which makes me fairly hopeless at any game which requires dexterity and quick reflexes.  However, I love finding out how things work and figuring out what to do, even if I can't actually do it.  So I find everything myself, and then enjoy watching the vids of other people playing in ways I never could.

I ended up reading these forums by the slightly devious route of finding brickroad's glitch FAQ and being disappointed by its incompleteness, and when looking over the gfaqs boards in the (vain) hope of finding out the rest of why the murder beam glitch works I saw a reference to speedrunning (specifically, RS's retirement from making vids, the first I'd heard of either speedrunning or recording oneself) which ultimately pointed me over here, possibly via SDA.  After watching every little clip that didn't spoil any item locations for me I started reading the boards pertaining to the games I'd played, but didn't register because I have no interesting gaming accomplishments.  Couldn't stand seeing no mention of the Ceres asteroid in the Metroid Solar System thread, though, so here I am.
rotflmao. scarlet brings 'em in even in death.

welcome to the world of sequence breaking, chanoire.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Well, once you find all the items, hopefully my vid will be an ok watch.

I'm not dead!  :?
I just don't record vids anymore.
it's weird though, when you come on irc, you're like this freaky ghost scarlet.

To clarify, the thread I read was (I think) before the 0:55 was posted, or right around then?  It did start out sounding like a eulogy, though.

And yes, the first thing I did after finding the last SM powerup was watch that run, even before finishing my own game.  (Just as well I didn't wait; the next time I turned on the SNES my save was gone and I had to start over.)  And I enjoyed watching it very much, though I should take the time to get the high-quality version -- I was so impatient that I got the LQ one and some things are kind of hard to appreciate.  Kind of wish you'd written up the "neato things [you] did" that you mention in the program notes; as you say, most of it speaks for itself but I'm sure there are things I'm missing due to inexperience.

Speaking of which, was there once further commentary on these runs posted on the main site?  I see things in the threads that suggest that there had been additional interesting comments along with the runs, but since the links all point to archive.org now I have no idea if there was anything extra before then.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Unless of course, if my "life/existence" at this place was just for making vids, then I guess I am dead.

I don't think there was anything extra in the commentaries when they got transferred over to archive.org.

Main reason I didn't want to type up about all that stuff was that I was going to for my 1:00 run and just the first segment commentary was a couple of pages.  Became too long and blah.

Someone threw out the idea of vocal commentary, but meh.

As for others, dunno..probably the same reasoning.

You don't want to know. Really.

...I don't think I have ever written in this thread before.

I use one single word to describe myself: Forumite (Or Forum Whore, as I have started to entitle myself ^__^). I'm a member at too many forums for my own good.

The four most important things there is are food, anime/manga, games and sleep.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
They killed it Toozin.  They killed it dead.  Weep for the once useful topic.  Or not.  Whatever.

Yes, but who's fault was it?
