IBJ varation

I don't know if this is know or not but I just found out a varation on the IBJ. Instead of putting 2 bombs at every spot like normally you can also put a bomb shortly after the next one so instead of

I have trouble doing it the intended way, so I've always done it like that. Thing is, it's almost just as fast; you can leave about an inch of space between one bomb and the next. Getting Varia has never been so easy.

I just use one bomb at a time. I've never done anything different. And I can control the speed of my climb by how soon or later I lay the next bomb.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. I like to wall jump instead of bomb jumping too, but sometimes you have no wall to jump off of. In those cases I use the tried and tested method of "spam bombs like crazy and cross your fingers".

The easiest way to IBJ I find is to just lay a bomb when you hear your last one explode. The blast radius is nice and big, so you don't need to be hyper precise. Once you get the rhythem, it's a snap.

So far that hasn't worked for me. I can jump a little bit that way, but it fails me before spamming bombs would. I guess I just haven't practiced enough, but seeing as I don't speed run so time isn't an issue to me spamming bombs has worked just fine for me so far.

To do the IWJ all you need is one(Not two) Wall and with practice you can Jump into certain places much earlier.(I do this all the time)

i've gotten so good at that that. (from going after varia suit around 30 times) that i can cahnge from normal bombjump to diagonal no problem. I can also do diagonal for a decent long time off teh ground..

I just wish i could IBJ in super...

Man... Super was so hard... I took a day off of playing and just stayed by the ship practicing IBJ and the diagonal, horizontal, and hovering variations until I could do it flawlessly... took sooooooo long to get right.

I disabled all layers, except the sprite layer, and did a small demonstration of how the single bomb IBJ works. I've never tried using 2 bombs, to the point that I didn't even knew you could do it with two bombs. :P

In both videos I screwed up the start because the emu would get too slow, and I had to adapt my timing to the slowdown, but after I got it right, it was a matter of keeping the timing. If you can imitate that timing, you're good to go. :)

Nice video, DZ. That's the way I try to do it. I usually screw up several times before I start correctly, and even then I only usually get half that high before I fail. I guess I just need practice.

My computer thinks they're html files even when right-clicking and save as-ing. It tried to turn the extension into .htm :? A quick rename sorted that out, though.

That's pretty much how I do it. I don't really follow sounds or anything, I use the bomb's "rapid flash before exploding" as my guide to lay the 2nd bomb and the rest writes itself. It's just so second nature now that I don't have to even look at it anymore anytime after I get my first jump.

I just got it one day and now its second nature, i don't even have to look any more, actually, it helps me if i DON'T look and just tap it out with my fingers in the same pattern.
