Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
It's a good idea, but it doesn't work out.
Samus can jump through blocks while crouched because her initial speed + offset due to jumping while crouched can place her high enough to go through the block in a single frame. But underwater, even with the high jump boots, Samus's initial jumping speed is just too little to travel far enough in a single frame. You can position the Yard high enough to get past the first speed blocks, but then you'll just get stuck past the first speed blocks. :/

If it works, WHY has this not been found yet??

Haha... that reminds me of the Lower Norfair break-in for NBMB.
Really simple things are often missed simply because nobody thinks to try them.
Ummm... you know the e-tank in Kraid's layer?  In the first room?  Well I think it's active before Kraid is beaten, and there is a simular verticle-style door there.  Even if it is useless, I think there is another way with that one block floor near the E-tank door.

Above the vertical door is still part of the room; it's most likely solid wall (as far as I know, Maridia is the only place with empty gaps inside the room map. Actually, the 'space' below the floor in the room you mentioned is also most likely solid block, only Maridia usually has gaps in visible spaces). I'd have to check, but chances are that that's a dead end.
Also, there's no known way to get through a floor block, unless it's only half a tile (like the platforms in Mother Brain's room), or if you can use an iceless murder beam and burrow your way down with semi-frozen enemies that can pass through the floor.
Ironically, the best way I can think of to get out of that room is actually jamming Samus into the left door and CFing your way out of the room, and letting a geemer hit you and drain your health between CFs (it'd have to be the one in the below room). But I don't think you'll have enough CFs to get through the roof, and also I'm 95% certain that you'd just run into solid blocks above the room.

Traveling outside the Ki-Hunter room holds some merit... If there was someway to get out of the rooms further in, you could likely travel under the Ki-Hunter room and manage to land in the energy tank room. But I can't think of any way to get out from any of those rooms, either.

Oh, and I just checked: The floor is a good 6 blocks deep, and the top right screen is solid blocks.

Wonderful.  Rolling Eyes

By the way, I was wondering, can you enter battles with minibosses/bosses if you don't actually kill them, but instead collect the items and find a way out?  For NBMB run rules, anyway.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
I think all of the doors are locked by a grey door, except Spore Spawn.

And you think that alone will stop me? ;)
That wasn't the worry, RS.  I was thinking if it's against the rules to engage the boss at all, entering the room or otherwise.

Yes, it is against the rules (or was, when I did my NBMB).

I was talking about the doors in relation to your 'take the item and leave the room' theory.  :o

Thanks.

I think this e-tank is getable...  more than any other item at least.
