Well i'm having trouble with dash jump when trying to get space jump. I have the PAL version of the game and i managed to get the target lock and brought it back ship, but whenever i try the dash jump i land short of the cliff platform.

I tested with a normal L-lock (no target) dash jump and it ended up in the same place, so i'm assuming i'm not doing the dash jump properly. Normally when i do dash jump, i hold down left and jump then let go of L straight away....what am i doing wrong?
Thread title:
probably nothing at all. Its just hard. Just try to make sure that you are really on the edge of the ship before you dash. You can use the map as a good guidance. It took me a couple of hours trying but all of a sudden i just landed on top of the cliff. So keep trying.
My mistake when I was trying to get it down was with the timing.  I didn't realize how soon after you jump you have to let go of L, it's more or less simultaneously.

I also seemed to have a problem doing the dash jump from the ship.  When I got down off the ship, I could dash jump around Tallon Overworld pretty easily. Maybe it was just me saying to myself, "GET IT THIS TIME" and then I messed up because I was so critical of doing it. I had to loosen up a lot more because when I didn't have to make the jump, I always did it correctly.

If you're just learning some of the sequence breaking techniques, don't expect to get them down right away.  It takes a couple weeks to fully master them and be able to do them whenever.
Well, if youm let go of L too soon, you will result in like a twisting jump that won't get you anywhere.  Try letting go of L a heartbeat after you execute the jump.  Also some things to keep in mind:

TAP the B button when you jump
hold the control stick all the way to the right.  It will help you greatly.
it took me a long time to get it too. i had to try a slightly different approach because i cant get my coordination that fast.

i start on the left edge of the ship and move across to the right, dash-jumping right before i would fall off. that way i dont have to worry about the stick because it's already going right. then i dash and let go of 'L'. it still takes me a couple tries, and i have the easy version. it is always kind of surprising when i am suddenly on the cliff. i also dont go ALL the way back on the ship.

even though i have the easy version, i have used the targeting dash just to prove that i could, and it's the only way i can get across the main quarry too.
Watch the vidoe here of it being done on PAL. Take a screenshot JUST before Samus jumps (with the Print Screen button next to F12) and put it into Paint or something and print it out

Take this printout and line urself up EXACTLY as it is in the shot, you should see in on her ship something like

You gotta see the rectangle and the arrow on the right side of her ship. That's the reference I use to when I'm in the right position. Then it's just a matter of Dash Jumping then let go of 'L' immediately.

By doing the above I got it within 5 mins (was at it for 3hrs beforehand.)

I did the same with a few of the harder ones (taking a screenshot) and got them pretty quickly too.
