I assume you mean with just one wall. Which game are you talking about? Remember, it only works in Super and Zero Mission. If you're trying in Fusion, you can only do it with two walls. And you can't wall jump at all in other metroid games.
I don't know how well you know about wall jumping at all, so I'll describe the whole process:
You spin jump towards the wall, and hold towards the wall. Then, quickly hold away from the wall and hit jump, then quickly hold towards the wall again. If you did it correctly, Samus will kick off the wall and spin jump up, staying next to the wall. Just repeat as neccessary to keep going up the wall. Often people find this more difficult than using two walls and mess up the timing, failing completely to jump. I know I do it lots myself. If that's your problem, then I'm sorry but you can only get better by keep practicing.
Naw. In Fusion you get hurled away from the wall, and you don't have control of the jump for about a half-second after wall jumping, if I'm not mistaken. If you were to try to return to the wall you just jumped off of, you'd hit it a very long way below where you jumped the first time.
Well, actually, you can kinda infinite wall jump in Fusion. But it only works in water and is extremly difficult to preform. I never been able to pull it off.
yeah, i still have some gigantic problems walljumping at ALL in super, but i can do it so comfortably in zero mission that i don't even think about it anymore.

Super Metroid WJs STILL give me trouble! It's slightly more involved than MF in that you need to wait till Samus looks away from the wall before hitting jump again.
Up until Syls post, we were talking about IWJ (using only one wall), which is impossible in Fusion. TLM probably thought you still were (I'm assuming you're talking about wall jumping in general).
I cannot imagine trying to pull off the really insane Metroid moves on an SP. Tiny machine, tiny buttons. And they click. No offense, but I'm sticking with my old glacier GBA.
Wall jumping in general is easier in Super, due to the "cue sprite" as I like to call it. When you see it, press jump, and voila! wall jump. In fusion and ZM, you have no sprite, and ZM has you press the buttons at the same time to boot.

im sure thats actually what makes zero mission easier for me.
I think what makes it easier is that it's shorter And more complicated And with less bosses... A little less challenge... and a lot less encouragement from me! i just don't really think it put up that much of a fear factor into it...
i mean without the fear factor... You go relatively smoothly through games! It's like removing the heart of a kitty cat... Sure it'd look like a cat... But it just doesnt make you want to pet it anymore!
But Fusion! There's a game! There was something that you COULDN'T muscle your way out of! And the first time through you had the fear that the SA-X would appear from the door over there. And you knew that if he did there was nothing you could do to stop him
And also, when you got power-ups it made you feel you were really getting stronger because once you got the ice missles you knew that now you stood a chance of at least escaping! And i don't know about you but my heart still races after having the SA-X chase after me and knowing that the only way to freedom is to run and make sure he wasn't gonna get ya.
