Hi all,

I'm trying to put the finishing touches to an MP3 item guide I'm doing for a UK gaming magazine, and there's a number of items that I can't remember what equipment were needed to collect them (such as Screw Attack, Boostball etc).

If any of you would be kick-ass enough to fill in the blanks for me, I'd be genuinely grateful. :D

E.g. Energy Tanks:
1). Area: GFS Olympus, Room: Ventilation Shaft, Item needed: Morphball Bombs __

Sorry for the long list, but I serioulsy can't remember how I collected the above (and I don't have enough time to re-hunt through the game from scratch to note it :(

Thanks!  cookie
Thread title:
Here are the ones I can remember... Sorry but I havent done Pirate Homeworld in awhile so I dont remember any from there =(

Energy Tanks:
5). Area: Bryyo, Room: Vault, Item needed: None (well, Grapple Lasso to remove the block in the morphball tunnel, but you have it by this point -- Actually, you can even bsj to this door to skip the morphball tunnel...)__
8). Area: Elysia, Room: Xenoresearch A Lift, Item needed: None (simply destroy the tank on the way back from Seekers - you could say that Energy Cell 5 is needed since when you get it, it removes the force field around the tanks) __
12). Area: Bryyo, Room: Machineworks Bridge, Item needed: Screw Attack (I think Plasma beam for the door and boostball to get in the room, not 100% sure about those 2)__

Ship Missile Expansions:
1). Area: Bryyo, Room: Hangar Bay, Item needed:  None? (that is the original Ship Missile Upgrade) __

Energy Cells:
2). Area: Elysia, Room: Xenoresearch B, Items needed:  Nothing special, it's required to get this Cell if you want to get seekers __

Missile Expansions:
34). Area: Norion, Room: Substation West, Item needed: Seeker missiles (not 100% sure, but I think thats in the generator you didnt blow up, when you come back near the end of the game) __

EDIT: Btw, you need Ice Missiles too, for the missile expansion in Bryyo Gel Refinery Site (you listed it as an example)

In fairness if you're writing  a guide you really should be playing through and recording locations as you go.

In fairness, I was offered the guide after I had finished the game (so I had no reason to remember the upgrades needed to get the expansions), and at the last minute (the deadline is Monday morning).

But thanks for the contribution... Rolling Eyes
Actually, IIRC you need X-ray for the Metroid Processing energy cell. Not sure, though, I've skipped it in my last two playthroughs.

I meant play it through again.

Gamerguides looks like a professional site and this is what prompted me to say: if you decide that you'll write a guide for item locations, you really should be doing it yourself by means of a 2nd playthrough.

I'm not trying to drag you down or anything - you're offering game guides for free on a polished site, I'm just saying I think it lacks professionalism.

The problem is, is that I don't quite have the time to really do all of the game again (for when the deadline is). I have a FT job and I'm in the middle of buying a house, so squeezing in a complete playthrough of the game will be next to impossible at this precise moment in time, hence the reason why I asked for the help.

Normally, I would play the game a 2nd, even 3rd time to get it all down 100%, but in this case, that simply can't be done. :( (Oh, and the guide isn't for my site, it's for an actual gaming magazine sold in the shops here in the UK). :)
Fair dos if real life is preventing you, but if it's for a mag it kind of exassibates my point.

On the flip side of that, desperate times and all that.  GameFAQs could probably help you out easily enough.  You know the pick up location and the FAQs actually tell you where it is and waht you need on thw whole.

I know technically you're just using someone else's work but I don't see the difference between using parts of a free-to-all guide in your own words compared to a bunch of Metroid enthusiastsa, so you may s well make it as easy as possible.

(didn't use a guide or anything, went off memory + checking room names in-game)

Because by posting in this topic with info you're impliedly giving him permission to use it (since he told you exactly what he's using it for). To copy a guide he would have to get the permission of the person who wrote the guide and he might not get the permission in time or at all. At least that's how I under stand it. I'm not a lawyer.
"using parts of a free-to-all guide in your own words" = getting info, not copying.

He's using it to get info but not ripping it word for word; he'd be laying it out in his own format amongst his already half done guide.
