Prime isn't all that difficult once you get the hang of it. It's a lot of the same thing over and over. But then again, aren't all the Metroid games?

Yeah, but is that really a bad thing?  Laughing

Oh, and for me anyway any of them can be hard or easy depending on what type of run you're attempting: Low % is the thing that kills me, but is also something I want to accomplish EVENTUALLY (Don't Ask: Having problems with the end of Zero Mission again...)

But, as I think I probably said earlier: Metroid is the hardest overall for me since it's the only one I have never completed.

Edit: Hmm... guess I did (Didn't realize how many posts were in this topic: Thought it was more than ONE page  Wink)

Oh, I didn't say it was a bad thing; I like all the games exactly how they are. And yeah, low percent on any game is hard, especially in Prime.

Wow, you're right about this topic being short. You'd think there'd be more people here.

(Yes, I know that I'm quoting myself  Wink)

Just wanted to re-evaluate my answer to this topic now that I FINALLY beat the original from start to finish this morning!  8) (Yeah, almost 20 years after it was released, but I've only been playing it for around 7-8 years max{When I found out about the series through Super})

Would still have to say that Metroid is the hardest one though: It's very easy for me to make a single mistake that will result in my death. Ridley and Kraid aren't as difficult as they have been anymore, now that I know what to do. Same thing with MB. (Then again, all of this is made easier since I have played through Zero Mission many times, so...  Wink)

The main thing is: I have now completed all of the Metroid games!  :D Playing through Metroid makes me realize why it was considered such a great game back when it was first released. (Yes, that's how much my opinion of this game has increased.)

Edit: Oh yeah, and I got through my MZM problem too  :D
Metroid 2 is the hardest in my Opinion.  Omega is an ass to kill and the Queen.  Damn you to hell QUEEN.  Plus, it's pretty easy to get lost in.  I can't remember, but did that game even have maps.  BTW, I was like 10 the first time I played this, 6 years ago.
lvl 28 Magic Leper
No, it never had maps, and it had repeating rooms. Yay!  /sarcasm
Time bomb set get out fast!
I haven't played enough Prime to judge yet (the game kind of spooks me... I'm not good at handling horror movies, and Prime feels like one).  Of the others, until recently I would have said Fusion.  See, my first playthrough of Fusion was absolute murder.  I died about 20 times to Yakuza, then another 20 to the SA-X chase, 20 to Nettori... and God only KNOWS how many to Nightmare.  The next couple of bosses were a bit easier and lulled me into a false sense of security -- just in time for the SA-X to knock my block off over and over and freakin' OVER.  When I finally beat the punk and discovered you couldn't save and then died to the Omega Metroid... hoo boy.  If I'd had my own GBA rather than using my brother's, it would have been in pieces.  And the pieces would have been on fire.  And the fire would have been on fire.

I looked up some tips so I could beat the Omega Metroid next time.  (Up button, I love you.)  Then I started another playthrough... and this time I beat almost every boss the first time.  Even the worst ones.  And with a few exceptions, that's how it's been ever since.  I have no idea why that happened, but it's turned Fusion from a game I loved but that drove me nuts to a game I love, no qualifier.  (It would sure be nice if the story scenes were skippable, though...)

So for hardest, I think I'll go with the original, but only on the console.  With savestates it's a lot easier since you're not stuck starting out with 30 health.  Return of Samus doesn't give me much trouble.
Metroid by far is the hardest one. I have spent many frusterating hours trying to get my missiles and energy full. The thing that makes it so difficult is that it requires you to sit down and play it all the way through in one run.
Starting with 30 health doesn't help much
Metroid 2, because it confuses me.  Oh, and I haven't beaten it yet.

That's why I play the one you get with Prime, because you can save.
My friends tell me that Prime is really hard, but my experience is that Metroid 1 is nearly impossible (for me). Without the Varia, everything takes of way too much damage, and it's such a pain to keep shooting enemies to sloooowly gain back life and missiles. I've never gotten close to beating Metroid 1, but I've beaten all the other Metroids (minus Prime, cause I don't own it :D ). I was really disappointed by Zero Mission, 'cause they made it too easy compared to the original, even though I kept on getting killed by those Rinkas...

They're called Cheerios, not Rinkas. Sheesh! Rolling Eyes
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
I always called the spahgettios.
WHERE'S ECHOES IT'S SO HARD!! Evil or Very Mad

Echoes is HARD? IMO, any of the 2D ones are harder than it. Come to think of it, Prime I is harder than Echoes, making Echoes the easiest of them all, again IMO.

So, which one do you think is easier then? Prime or Echoes  Laughing

Anyway, the thing that makes Prime and Echoes harder than the others is not the game itself, but the sequence breaks and tricks that you can do in them. A low % game for either of them is more: Can you do the "Super-Amazing Dash Jumps/No-Boost Spinners of Doom" (Aka, all that stuff I've heard about for Geo Core) For the rest, it's hard sometimes to even survive long enough with only 1%, or 9% etc... (Which is why for gameplay itself, the 2D ones far outrank these two)

Either way, for the two Prime games, my vote goes to both of them: They're equally hard in their own respects, especially the amount of skill required to pull off most of the higher end sequence breaks. (I couldn't decide...)

The 2D games is an easy vote for me: Metroid 1: It gave me the msot trouble for the amount of time I had it (A few years after I got Super {1996 I think} I got this one, so it's quite a few years as you can see) I did finally manage to defeat the thing late last year, so I am happy now  Wink

It can be at times, I suppose, but it's never that hard, especially if you have played the first Prime.
