Hi, I'm newly registered, but I've been visiting this site for a while now. I'm in the middle of going through Hard Mode on Metroid: Other M right now, and I figured out a useful trick.. When you're fighting Nightmare, the second time, and he creates the 'black hole' that sucks in your shots, just position yourself on exactly the other side Nightmare from the black hole. That way, they hit Nightmare on their way to being sucked in the hole, that way you can maximize damage in a shorter amount of time. I don't know if this has been posted/suggested yet, but I registered just to post this message, heh. Hope this helps anyone having trouble.
BTW, thank you for being there when I needed you on all the other Metroid games, thanks metroid2002.com! :)

I did that on the normal playthrough. I haven't tried hard mode yet, though.

Can you still Pseudo-SA through his arms? >.>
Not sure, I didn't try. But I know that in doing this trick, I whittled his health down at least by a quarter more than if I didn't. I'm not much of a speed runner, but I'm positive this saved a good amount of time when I was fighting this boss. I didn't use charge shots, I just spammed Plasma Beam shots when Nightmare was in between me and the black hole. Also, when he finished his little 'worm charge', I put myself right up on him and spammed shots, and they hit him as they curved around to go in the black hole.

So whatever you can do in normal mode, like Pseudo-SA thru his arms, I assume you can do in Hard Mode too.

I haven't actually checked to make sure, but I figured charged shots are much better to use. On the other hand I did have some accel pickups on Normal as I fought him.

You had supers by that point, right? Those might be really useful, too. I seem to remember them being really strong.

About the arms thing, I'm referring to Fusion, actually.
Yeah, I had supers. That's all I use really after the point of getting them. I hit him with shots till he falls to charge at me on the ground, then I just SJ out of the way and hit him with a Super Missle, then repeat the process. Is it just me or is the Queen Metroid uber hard on .. hard mode? I can't seem to get past the metroid part.. Takes a lot of practice I guess, the best I've done so far is taking out two of the metroids, but another one always seems to get me when I'm charging up a super. I saw a tip earlier about being charged BEFORE you to into 1PV, and just letting loose on a super that way instead of charging in 1PV. Ill have to try that.
You can pseudo screw-attack in MOM ??

No.

Try it with a regular enemy. You'll take damage, and your charge will be lost.

@Martin
Use SenseMove when a Metroid is going to attack to insta charge.
OK now im confused.  you cant do it, yet we're talking about doing it.  Help!

a joke, I presume? I know you can't pseudo in MOM. It's one of those 'haha' moments, Opium. I'm not having as much of a problem freezing them as I am destroying them. I just gave up for the night. I'll try again tomorrow :). Thanks for the tip, Jagger.

Can't.
Charge your beam, and Spin Jump. You'll take damage, the enemy will take just as many shots to kill, and you'll lose your charge.

@Martin
If it's the killing you're having trouble with, then only fire off one missile at a time instead of the 3 required to kill it. Regular missiles mind you.
The less time you spend in first person trying to kill one, the more time you have to react to another hovering over your head.
Thanks for the help. I'm trying that right now.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I don't remember having much difficulty with the Metroids.  All I did was dodge for a while, until all of them were closely grouped, and when I fired the diffusion effect froze all of them at once, resulting in me being able to kill them fairly quickly with missiles.  I'm also certain that I took out two with one missile.  Whether one had been weakened already, meaning that the splash damage (?) was able to destroy it, I don't know.
lol no way
I think it's cute how enemies (including 'troids) fall when you freeze them now.
Yeah a "Boss Strategies" topic could be really useful, just to talk about what we've found as like, the best moments to dodge for a charge - like on the industrial machine guy, you can dodge pretty much the entire time if you're close enough - or any sort of patterns that are easily replicable. Mainly for hard mode (see: my post in japanese reactions, complaints etc).
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
you can just spam super missiles against the guy in normal mode and he'll die before he can even use that move.

still, i used the method involving aligning yourself behind him to make the shots hit him on the way to the hole when dealing with him in hard mode.

Heh. I saw Jagger's post just before I went to bed last night... clearly I should have replied what I considered replying, namely "Smartass."  Might've saved some misunderstandings.  He was just making a Fusion joke.  There's no charge spin in Other M, and you have real screw attack for the Nightmare fight anyway.

I do have a real Nightmare-avoiding tip, though. When he tries to bodyslam you, screw attack won't help, but if you morph and hug the wall, he'll miss you completely. Then he's wide open for a sec, letting you attack or concentrate.

As for Metroids, I didn't personally destroy a single one. The beauty of that fight is that the Queen will do it for you -- any frozen Metroids on the ground are shattered when she does her Wave Quake. Since you're depending on her to decide to use it, this method is slow, but with Sensemove you can go pretty much forever without taking a hit; you can also safely concentrate right after the Queen does a Quake or two, as the Metroids will pause to regroup. I did try the classic freeze/missile method, but I almost always got grabbed before I could get a lock. This way is much less frustrating.
I usually just got on the left side of the wall and used SenseMove a couple of times.  Most of the time it works, a couple of times it doesn't.

Has anyone tried using the Screw Attack on a frozen Metroid?
SA on frozen metroid = fail
So I finally defeated the metroids, and moved on to stage 2 of the battle. Good thing when I died I didn't have to kill the metroids again! I don't quite remember her flame breath reaching all the way across the room though >_<

I didn't notice the metroids being destroyed when the Queen used her quake attack, but this time I annihilated the first metroid as soon as it was hatched, and only concentrated on one at a time. I made sure all nearby metroids were frozen before I entered 1PV and missiled them. I laid off the supers this time, as they were very time consuming with no accel charges. But, I noticed in first person, when the outside of your visor glows a green color, that means you're about to be attacked, and when you move the wiimote off the screen, you do a 1PV Sensemove, which if you're holding A, will completely charge your gauge, just like 3PV Sensemove and the instant beam charge. This is especially useful for charging Super Missiles quickly. Has anyone else done this, and gotten the hang of it?
ANKOKU
Others have done it before, but I think you may be the first to notice a green flash.
Hmm, I thought that the Queen's quake attack, if it hit frozen Metroids, would actually unfreeze them rather than kill them. Could've sworn that was where most of my problems came from my first fight against her. Any time I got close to being able to blast a few of them she'd quake and they'd all be back to hunting after me.
ANKOKU
Now that you mention it, thats what I remember too Hunter.
That is exactly what happens. I have no idea what they are talking about, the Queen killing its own babies.
Yeah, I definitely don't think her quake attack damages them, just frees them from being frozen. But I definitely noticed that right before you get attacked in 1PV, your visor glows green along the outline. This really helps a lot, considering you aren't able to see enemies coming for you from behind or the sides, so it's a kind of warning that you're going to need to dodge, and being in 1PV, it fully charges the charge meter making a super missle shot much faster. Has anyone else noticed this, as far as the green glow/blindside attack warning?
Time bomb set get out fast!
...What? Then how in the hell did I win that fight?

It's hardly unheard of. Either in Metroid (Omega Pirate) or in real life (ever owned a goldfish?).
Hey, i dunno if its cheating or not, but in another thread, I talked bout putting the Wii senor to your left at a comfortable height. It allows you to switch to 1PV easily and aim with 2 hands, which is a lil hard, but much quicker than pointing it at the screen.
