Looks interesting, Zeneo; I'll try it out soon. But I'm afraid you'll have to find a new name for it. There's already a Super Metroid RBO (and two sequels, RBO Impossible and RBO Insane).

I do not understand this recent rash of hacks where almost nothing is changed. One of the reasons I haven't embarked on a hack is that, with the little bit I've played around with SMILE, I know that to do what I'd want to do, the time commitment is more than I can invest with everything else going on in my life right now.

Seriously, even with a half-hack, if you are not going to make some meaningful changes, what is the point?

Note: I am not criticizing mini and one-room hacks where that is the whole point. I am talking about hacks where it's the whole game with a few tiles and powerups moved around and whatnot, and nothing else.

This hack doesn't match with your title. This is NOT a RBO. I managed to beat Kraid as a first boss. Plus, almost nothing has changed. I suggest you to play my RBO hack to get some ideas.

List of things wrong here:

1) This is not a FULL hack, in fact I don't even think it's much of a hack at all
2) This is not an RBO hack
3) RBO is a name already taken

No I don't think this is what they are saying.
We just want you to practice and polish your hacking skills before you start releasing hacks.
Play some of the better hacks out there like Cliffhanger, redesign, Golden Dawn, etc to get a feel for how a hack is supposed to be.
Refer to the smile help topic if you need help or want to ask any questions.
I'm sure you can make a good hack but it will take time for you get the hang of it.
Don't give up.

Try watch this video series. It may help you expand your hacking knowledge. (The video just shows some basic hacking techniques to help spice up your rooms.) extra_smug

The videos go in this order:

1. Preparing
2. Simple Setup
3. Adding Details
4. Testing and Finishing Up

Zeneo, I think we're mostly just confused that you would announce this as a full hack when you only seem to have changed one thing. What else did you do besides putting an energy tank near the ship?

He also replaced varia suit with reserve tank after Kraid.

It's not that you don't have to make "hacks". Just put far more effort into changing things, and enough change that it would be worth while for other people to spend their time on (maybe even care about). Razz
