... you're kidding, right? :P
I was posting that information for helping people hack Super Metroid, not how to cheat to beat the game more easily (although it can be used for that)
Also, the information I gave applies to SM: Limit as well, as does the RAM map I have online (which can be used incredibly easily to produce cheat codes). You'd have to do some assembly hacking for the information to *not* apply to Limit.
Oh my gawd, I think I love you Kejardon.. :O
Thanks for the beam info ;)
Well it's really not obvious, now that I remember... Hold on, I'm on my emu now.
Well, I'm stuck in Metroid Limit again (no surprise there!) This time I went through Brinstar and got an energy tank from the walljump shaft. But there was no way out of there, so I took the bottom route and now I'm stuck in a long shaft filled with tons of enemies (an obvious anti-sequence break). Everywhere I've explored leads to either yellow doors, speed booster blocks, or grey doors.

I'm getting fucking sick of getting stuck in this hack. It's quite frustrating -- completely the opposite of Legacy.
Alright alright I got it, and made a complete screenshot, so you will understand everything. The room you went is the next after the ice, it's Spore spawn (savestate power). So the path has no mistakes, just explore by bombing or running morph ball into walls.
I know Limit is kinda frustrating, I like Legacy for its simplicity. I think limit should have at least save slots, and should be a little easier, but don't worry : it has cool staging, compared to legacy.
Good luck then.
Edit : AAHHhhh wait. I have a serious problem with that stuff, but it will work.
Hey wait how do we transfer bmp into png?
Edit : Found a way, I'm currenty trying to send it.
Yay! It worked, I hope you can read .rar files.

I got the Ice Beam. At first I thought my game was glitching up because the water kept appearing and disappearing. And then I realized that you're supposed to do gravity jumps to get up there, so it wasn't too tough.

Getting out of the spike shaft, though, was another story. :P
Yeah Rolling Eyes , it's pretty long to icebeam that damn enemy. If you go until a certain distance you might have an energy tank, I hope you got it (Well it's not that important, but it is useful).
I'm glad you passed the ice room without considering it as tough, the rest might be okay then.
Don't hesitate to ask for help in the future by the way.

just take a png snapshot, i'n not sure about snes9x but if you press F1 on zsnes and go down to image format and turn bmp into png it will turn bmp into png
Ok, thanks a lot. I can't use my controller on Snes9x, so I prefer using ZSnes for everything.
I need help with SMILE.  Whenever I open a Super Metroid rom on it, it shows up, but on the top bar it says "455" and nothing works.  I tried this with two roms.  How do I fix this, or are there other programs similar to SMILE that I could use?

I realized that I had to abuse savestates to play this game. If I were playing without savestates I would have given up long ago. The game doesn't even give you any save rooms! And come on -- Phantoon with only two energy tanks and no Varia? Complete bullshit.

...but it's not so bad when you abuse savestates.
Kamek, do you think getting Super Metroid on a emulator would be safe? Like if i downbload it, would i get a virus from it? I hope doing this isnt aginst the rules, its just that i want Super Metroid REALLY bad.

It depends on your source.

And of course wanting someting REALLY bad makes everything okay. Rolling Eyes

My thoughts are exactly the same Wink . If it were hard from the beggining to the end it would be okay, but without save rooms... you have to cross from all over brinstar through the wrecked ship in order to take the (only one) save room of crateria, sounds compleeetely natural of course...
Plus Phantoon is way stronger, and so are the others, I used savestates more than a hundred times and I think I spared myself 10 hours of boringness. I would have given up without savestates, too.

Edit : Finished the game, and I have to say : It rocked. Play it, I shall make some help about it.
How do I get the Wave Beam in Super Metroid Battle?
AS you can tell, and also as I've said, I'm COMPLETELY new to the M2K2 community. I just got the Metroid Limit hack, and... I have no idea how to use it.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

You need the following:

IPS Patcher
Emulator
Super Metroid (U) [!] ROM w/header
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
no, you just need an emulator, the rom and the hack

rename the rom so it has the same name as the hack, make sure the hack and rom are in the same folder, and play the renamed rom

Soft-patching is nice when you want to test things out, but hard-patching a ROM tends to iron out problems that may occur.
You don't rename the rom to have the same name as the hack; you rename the hack to havethe same name as the rom.

you can do it either way, the way I said works for me fine

another thing in metroid reverse i got varia suit a 2nd time Shocked  while doing this massive shinespark. weird?

You also have that weird shinespark in Limit when getting the gravity suit.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
in legacy, I beat phantoon and went to the varia chozo, i jumped through the door, and the screen scrolled left and i got traped, but when i walk through the door it's fine
here's a movie
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
The middle two tiles of that door aren't right, they use the door on the other side of the room instead. The top and bottom tiles do work though - it's when you hit one in the middle first that you end up in the wrong room. (note: The bottom block Samus collides with is detected first).

Anyways, you can actually get out without too much trouble if you accidently do that. You appear in what's basically a copy of the room, just open the door on the left with the wave beam, then run right to enter it. You can also directly open the door on the right in the repeat directly with diagonal shot missiles, or the grapple beam.
