Who of you has got the game yet and what are your first impressions?
I'll get my copy this week but I don't know when... (imported)
Is the handling better than in the Demo and how's the gameplay?
I'm looking forward to a nice battle against you guys. :D
Thread title:
Whoa. I came to the hunters section of the forums thinking "Hmm...I guess I'll make a new topic to see who has the game yet. I'll call it....'Got it?'." Then I saw someone already made it. 0_o Anyway...

No, I don't got it.

I will be getting it tomorrow though. I already have a router all set up, so I'll be ready for multiplayer as soon as I get home (or go to mcdonalds XD) . I'll probably mess around in single-player for a bit before I try multi, so I don't suck too bad. I'll be Kridly, until we get the whole clan thing worked out.

About the M2K2 Clan: I don't know how multiplayer really works. Can you make your own server to play on? Then we could have the M2K2 Server where we'll all hang out and kill eachother. We have these ideas, and the game has come out, now we need to take the steps towards making the clan a reality.
soaking through
I can say with almost 100% certainty that it won't be server based, as that just wouldn't work for what this is.  For one, private servers are not regulated, and Nintendo are marketing this whole thing as safe and secure, which private servers most definitely aren't.  On another point, I don't think it would actually be possible without some sort of interface to link with a computer, which rules out public hotspots.

I don't know, it suppose it may be possible, but it absolutely won't be offical or endorsed by Nintendo.

If you want to shoot us all in the face on an M2K2 server, get on our 1.6 one.  ;P
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Are stores even selling it yet? EB hasn't called to tell me to pick it up.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
It shipped today, but it's not on any shelves yet.  Though I got MP2 on the supposed shipping day when I preordered it, a day or two before most stores put it on the shelves.  I didn't preorder this, though...
The Best Buy in my area is supposed to have it tomorrow, so hopefully by tomorrow evening I will have it. I plan on playing the single player section the entire way through before I go online, so that I can have access to the unlockable content. (The other Hunters specifically) Not only that, but I should have a handle on the control style by then if I'm lucky.

Anyway, looks like somebody should probably create a Spoiler Topic for this game before long.
I'm walking to Gamestop during my lunch period tomorrow to get it.  Might play it at McDonalds on the way back to school.  I just can't wait!

Another reason why I don't usually preorder games.

That's weird.  :?

more first impressions (after beating the first "level"): the game seems really easy, especially given how bad i am at the controls. granted, that was only the first level, but i could have sleepwalked through that. kanden especially did not seem to be much deadlier than a beetle in metroid prime. i'm curious to see whether things will toughen up later, and i'm really looking forward to seeing one of the badasses here submit a run.

A beetle? Haha thats really funny. I'm getting the game after this after school presentation i have to do tonight.
ok, maybe not quite that bad, but i just kind of shot at him and he died. i never felt that i was in any real danger.

Sounds quite funny.^^
I'll get the game on friday and I don't know when I get a NDS lite so you have to wait for a speedrun thats worth watching. ;)
I breezed through the first level also, with controls being the only issue. Then I tried online multiplayer. After about 5 rounds, I had gotten last place every time (I am blaming that on controls too) . Just need to get used the the controls....I am using right handed stylus with thumbstrap.

Nate(and everyone else), definitely keep us up to date on how the Single Player mode is (and how long it is, etc.). It will pretty much be the deciding factor in whether I buy the game or not.
I just picked up my preorder and I have played it online twice already and it is awesome!  It is way better than I expected.  The controls are really smooth and you can see big changes from the demo right away.  I haven't played the single player yet though.  Anyway, I have won both matches I was in so far (BOOYAH!).  As for the M2K2 server thing, I don't see how it would work.  All the game does is find 3 other people to play against (just like Kart DS).

I am really looking forward to playing some other M2K2s.  I am playing as M2K2Nebula.  Hope to see yall when you get on. :D
I gots it.  Spent all of yesterday calling everywhere in central new york that might sell video games trying to locate an early copy, but to no avail.  Today we got up early and went over to EB and grabbed a copy.  The guy there was both a Metroid and a tattoo fan, and said he'd have given me a discount if I'd showed him my tattoo, but oh well.  I wanted the display though, and he tried to get it for me, but it was promised to someone else..now I always promised myself I'd get a Metroid display should I ever see one, and I wasn't about to be thwarted by some faceless guy taking my display (its probably the same in every EB, but if you havent seen it, its about 4 feet tall and 3D, cardboard of course, but its pretty awesome), so I went out of my way all the way to the next EB and begged the guy for it there.  I guess I was doing him a favor, because on his list of things to do that day at the store was "Toss Metroid Prime Hunters Display", so he gave it to me.  It was a bitch getting it in the trunk, but now I'm a proud owner of both Metroid Hunters and as close as anyone'll get to having samus in their living room, hehe.

HOWEVER

I'd like to rant for a minute.  In the first experience with Hunters we had, I realized something rather obnoxious:  Samus takes falling damage.

How the hell does that make sense?  Every room in almost every Metroid game has been set up so that its more than just a horizontal plane, its vertical and diagonal and all friggen over the place.  Samus is used to taking long plunges down unknown shafts and hallways, you'd assume the suit was the reason why she never seemed to get hurt before, I mean she can walk around in 400 degree climates, lava, sub zero containments, get shot with all kinds of guns and exploded through a couple of glass structures, yet after eight Metroid games, the ninth one comes out and all of a sudden a little fall does damage.  Its illogical.  And it pisses me off!

There are also no save rooms.  You can only save at the ship.  Kind of another downer - however, being able to fly the ship is a big plus.  I still have faith it will turn out alright and the little annoyances wont have a huge impact on the gameplay, like Fusion and how wonderful that was despite Adam's unskippable monolouges..anyway...I suspect unfortunately that the single player mode was thrown together in the shadow of seeing how well multiplayer Metroid will sell.  It makes me sad, but I can't judge fully yet as I haven't really played it and James has only 17% completion...it just seems that its set up in levels and segments and not so much for the sake of story.. Prove me wrong Nintendo!  I have faith.

Well, I feel better.
I got the game earlier, and have played about 3 hours of the singleplayer mode already. The only real problem I am having with it is how uncomfortable the fire button is for me: It's so far out of reach of the other controls for me (Not even the R button gives me this much problems) that my fingers still ache about 10-15 min after I stopped playing.

As for the game itself, it seems a little linear at points, but there is still enough exploration in it at the moment to satisfy me. As for the difficulty, expect to die a few times later on, since the only way to save is to return to the gunship, which is not always easy. The controls have resulted in a few of my deaths, with the hunters and the bosses are giving me some challenges. (Not that I am getting very frustrated with them, but they are progressively getting harder for me as I go along, which is a good thing.)

Will probably not play the multiplayer mode until I complete the singleplayer mode. (Which doesn't appear to be as long as everybody has said: Only 3 hours in and I have 26% or so of the game done, and have 3 of the 8 special artifacts.)

Edit: I too have noticed the taking damage from falling....  Evil or Very Mad

Edit 2: Did find out that you can Triple Bomb Jump if you time things correctly, but it doesn't appear to be very useful at this time.
I hate 3D maps.  I was praying for the map setup like in the demo, but to no avail.  It made so much more sense too!  You dont need that big of a radar detector and you really only need it during a boss fight anyway.

Alright, I'm done.

"how can you make a 2D map of a 3D area?"
yeah, the map sucks.
I'm lovin this game, the single player is alright but multiplayer is addicting.  I have a feeling it's going to be like a portable halo 2 for me.  Only done one match so far then I had to cook dinner but I'm dying for more.  (ps.  i won 7-3 :)  I was excitied!)

what items do you collect in single player? only artifacts?

is there a story or anything or can you scan stuff like in the prime games?
