i think a 30 is possible with flawless execution

I suspected so. A 29 would be beautiful, but some things will never happen, and I think this is one of them.

For 100% TAS? No, this will never be possible. Definitely. JXQs 0:39 TAS is already extremely optimized. I think the absolute limit for 100% is 38 min, if at all. I can't see any possibility to get below 0:38 unless another major shortcut or trick gets discovered.

They were talking abut any% speedruns there. =)

And the any% TAS is getting more dated by the day. I think Saturn was working on a new one, and my guess is that the finishing time will be somewhere around 22 (half-random guess).

Right, the current any% TAS has far more room left to optimize. I would be really glad if I could make a 0:22 (I really do my best to optimize that run as good as I can), but I fear this is also impossible. My guess would be 24, or at best 23. But let's see.

And I agree with Azor, it's already a very thin line between TAS and console speedruns for any%. 31 is just brilliant!

22 was, as I said, a guess based on the current 27 + improvements from new tricks + arm-pumping + all the other tiny imperfections that might exists in the current TAS.
Quote from BlueGlass:
Now that I'm actually thinking about it, I just realized that the only Metroid games to have any% TASes are Super, MZM, and M1.  Fusion has a 0% TAS, which clocks in at 42 minutes on the ingame timer, but that's it.

There's not enough of a time difference between Fusion's any% and 0% in a TAS to bother with an any%. IMO.

Also, nice work Azor. I'm waiting eagerly to see this once you have it done and recorded.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
for a TAS each Missile Tank saves 990 Frames, minus the 192 frames that the Missile Capacity Increased message shows up for, you would save 798 frames. Unfortunatly most Missile Tanks take longer than 13 seconds to get...

Also getting the first tank would save 140 frames with the second tank it would save 175

So any% Metroid Fusion is pointless

Also I wish you good luck cookie

I hope to finish it by the end of 2007, mainly because I won't have a chance to consistently work on it during the next year.

thanks ^_^ im gonna get speedrunning now, just woke up

today might be hard however, i injured both of my feet and somehow pain distracts me
just hope that your injuries don't effect the time on your run.

dont worry, eventually it will stop hurting, my job is to not let this stop me
Poor Azor's feet.

Well, speedrunning should take your mind off them.  Good luck!
At least it's not your hands, Azor...

yes, IMO single segmented runs require more skill than  segmented ones

also as for my progress i gotta say its frozen, i brought my console to my grandmother's house but  left it there, my cousins are also there staying so i thought it would be mean to take away their only medium of fun

i also hope nate doesnt mind that on the vid there is a punch out part, i wanted to get rid of some frustration and went all the way the clown, then i lost :(
extra_smug Thanks for telling me.

i understand what you mean. i left some of my movies over to my cousin because he kept worrying me about looking at them.
That was really nice of you, letting your cousins use the SNES for a while.  And I dobut nate will mind the punch-out part on the video, especially since you might end up recording over it before the run is finished.

aya victory for me!!

i managed to steal my console back so now im back to making new route theories
Woohoo!

New route theories?  I thought you were getting ready to record a 31.

yeah but im azor, a guy with a bunch of insecurities and ideas to make better runs
Honestly, I think we've perfected this route as much as we're going to.
Phazon level: 83%
well its true our route rips the game to a certain limit

but also on friday me an jah thought of sub 20 on boss rush of castlevania PoR as impossible, then i fot 15:80 with alucard
That's because, IIRC, a completely new glitch (which I can't seem to replicate, BTW) was discovered that shaved off huge amounts of time.  The chances of finding a similar huge glitch in SM are extremely low.
