Echoes was just reviewed by Gamespot the other day:

http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/metroidprime2/review.html?q=1&tag=gs_hp_flashtop_story

9.1 = Awesome  8)

Speaking of which, when some of us actually get the game, I'm guessing that we're all going to play it a bit before we post ANYTHING correct?

(And on a side note: 200th post!)
Thread title:
Just remember, Fusion got good reviews across the board too.
And just what is wrong with fusion?  I prefer that game over Metroid Zero Mission.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
IGN's review is coming out tonight, 1up.com reviewed it already (heard it was somewhat a poor review), and some redbaboonass.com or so site gave it a good review.
From reading that review, it looks like they didn't "pull a Fusion" as the saying goes. This makes me very happy indeed.

edit: By the way, does anyone know the PAL release date?
edit: Nevermind, it's 26th November...(ish)
So I guess I won't get it until about 10th December or something.
Well, it looks to be enjoyable the first time around but doesn't explain the sequence breaking aspects of the game. Metroid has always thrived because of sequence breaking. If Retro hasn't seen the light, curses to them and all they stand for.
I always mentally adjust those scores before I give them consideration, because the average scores tend to be around 7.

An adjusted 8 is still not bad.  You'll note that he specifically said that Prime laid the groundwork and Echoes just fleshed it out a bit.  That's basically saying "typical sequel, nothing groundbreaking."

I heard nothing about the story problems being cleared up, perhaps I'm the only one who has that strong opinion about the randomness and incompleteness of the Prime storyline.  (I still don't know whether the Prime Metroid created the phazon, consumed it, or both.)

He mentions a scavenger hunt at the end, sounds like you might be hunting down escaped metroids.  I would rather have that than hunting down generic plot devices or pieces of some final super-item.

I'd say theres a 100% chance the Ing will start playing with Metroids, makes sense to me.  I think I already read that somewhere but it's hardly a leap.

One of the huge disappointments of Prime for me was the absence of epically large, godlike, abominable, essence sucking nightmarish jellyfish.  The metroids you encounter were either angry little babies or too distorted to be frightening. (last bosses)

I predicted right after the end of Prime that the sequel would involve the dark Samus being twisted into some freakish angelic biomass of disgust and destruction.  I'm just saying that again because I still think it will happen.  Hopefully that won't be the last boss.  I'm thinking it will be a Big Bad Ing+Metroid suckage freakshow again...  I could only pray that this somehow ties into the origin of Mother Brain, but I can already tell that's asking too much.
red chamber dream
I agree with you, Pekod. Especially the part about the Metroids in Prime not being tough enough. They could be killed with one shot from the ice beam plus a missile, or just totally avoided. I want big, bad Metroids that you have to fight, and have a good chance of getting hurt fighting.
Also, it would be great to tie the game into Mother Brain somehow...but I'm not getting my hopes up either.
lol no way
Ign gave it a 9.5. Oh, and as for the "I think the Ing will start experimenting with the metroids":

On metroid.com, near the end of the little flash thing, there's a Dark Metroid... says something about the Ing seeing much potential in them and starting to recruit them in order to enhance their army greatly, or something.
I think we'll find from this game that Phazon has more to do with the Metroids than we previously thought.
plain and simple fact about prime 2, if it can't be sequence broken the metroid series might as well die.
we need bugs in the game to keep its replay value up.
Arkarian knows what im talkin about.  HUGE metroids.
