Hi guys, I'm trying to get the plasma beam using the x-ray climb glitch I've now mastered thankfully. I've got it to work when accessing Lower Norfair in a RBO run, and after reading something Kejardon wrote on the Gamefaqs forum board about getting the plasma beam using x-ray climb I thought I'd try it out. Ths is what Kejardon wrote, quoted from the Gamefaq board:

"The plasma beam can be collected, start by getting stuck in the door on the bottom right and x-ray scoping up. You can get out in a hidden room behind the grey door then finish going up out of the room, then you have to travel right a loong way to get the grey door to move up far enough so you can hit it from above."

I tried x-ray climbing the very bottom right-hand door but I couldn't go any higher after awhile. Has anyone done this successfully?. Apologies if this has already been answered, any help would be appreciated.

I made a testrun of getting it suitless a loonnggg time ago, TAS wise, but you should be able to take my route if your careful enough. First off, if your doing it in realtime, you will need to have a crystal flash ready to breakthrough the top right corner, but getting a good Y position seemed to work iirc.

Don't start at the very bottom right corner door, do it from the middle door. Once your on top of the room, you will need to go right. Way right. This brings the grey plasma door up and off screen, once it is half way off screen, you will run right through the transition and into the shaft.

The reason that you will need to be careful are the gaps you must jump over off screen. Since your bringing the room up 1 block at a time with each loop, you can fall into a copy of the room from the left and right shaft of the room, if you understand what I mean. I'll go see if I can dig up my SMV to assist. :x
Thanks for the reply, I always think no one is gonna reply to my post :). I watched your RBO run and it was the business!. No seriously it's like you took the game I've loved for 14 years and gave it a proper spanking. I'll try the middle door again but it seems everytime I do I can't seem to climb up it; Samus just stops climbing up and remains in the same position. Are you saying I have to do a crystal flash whilst stuck in the door?. I've tried looking for your suitless smv but I haven't been able to. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

I couldn't find my SMV, may not of even recorded it like an idiot. Heh. I appreciate you liking my run. ;)

I will slap together a quick demo tomorrow for you and post it up. What I mean by the flash trick is, get stuck in the door STANDING with preparations for a crystal flash. Now start x-raying up to the top of the room, that corner where you get stuck, you need to do the flash there. The trick is, if you notice when you flash, Samus floats upwards sort of during the flash. This + a lucky/good Y position will push Samus past the corner you are getting stuck at, and back into standing position, allowing you to continue x-raying up and out of the room. Hope I explained it a bit better this time.

But yeah, I'll create a quick demo SMV for you tomorrow. Need to dota now.. :S If you're lucky, the magical Kejardon may swoop in before me, and somehow post a paragraph of nonsense, but at the end, it becomes crystal clear and its like Wtf..
Thanks pal, I really appreciate that. I finally got into Lower Norfair using the x-ray climb from watching your RBO run, but then found out I can also the plasma beam this way. I tried x-ray scoping up the room from the middle right door as you said. I got what you meant with crystal flashing in the top right corner. Just need a little luck to make it work, I just come back down when I do a crystal flash. Much appreciated mate.
Hey guys, I really need some help wth this early plasma beam challenge. I x-ray scoped right to the top of the room, used a CF in the corner to bypass the slope which was blocking my way. Then when I try to resume my x-ray climb, Samus returns to the position she was at before I used the CF. Any help ??.
