MP2 also a bit MP1 speedrunning
so i watched a video from miles:

and this remembered me what happened to me a long time ago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=gA75cLUl2qA#t=169

it really looks like i somehow managed to dash there without having a midair speedcap or am i stupid???
so why did that happen? did taking damage there somehow avoid the speedcap?
i have no clue but i can redo that but for some reason i only got it to work there.

sadly, i think theres no way to take damage off something at GA.
Thread title:
Maybe there is a way to take damage from a rezibit in the previous room and get some sort of damage boost off of it?  I remember way back in the day when people were doing vault without space jump they used the rezibits' laser attack to get a damage boost and get more distance and height off of their dash.
So what actually causes the no speed cap scan dash? Because that's just ridiculous. Is it just like a frame/angle perfect dash or something?

Miles hacked the game to do that.

i was actually thinking about using a rezbit and i actually think thats not even too much of a bad idea; just finding something to lockon in the previous room sounds annoying. But on the other hand, the therminal fall for GA goes really far down so i think theres a lot of room to work with.

Wouldn't it just be faster to actually do GA the traditional way rather than getting a rezbit to do damage to you and stuff?  Sure harder, but faster though?

oh, well. have fun resetting over it?
If you could use a Rezbit to get a no speed cap dash, then wouldn't that mean GA is no longer a one shot trick? So it would be a good backup strat?

Thanks, I will. Tons of fun.

Oh yea; to get back to this topic; my theory is, when your getting damage, and youre dashing right after that, or on the same frame whilst the damage youre taking has effects on your physical body, it will completely remove the speedcap for some reason. Maybe that also applies for poisonous grass or such things, so there might be some use for it, i dont think you can use that for GA sadly; because the only way to get damage there is the rezbits; a TAS could probably save sometime by using those, but a normal run couldnt do that i guess.

Also, the question on that video i posted earlier in this thread is, did the first shot, which hit me before taking damage remove the speedcap, or the second shot which i got hit by after dashing. It would make more sence if that second shot did, because thats probably where the speedcap "kicks in".
