A) I want co-op. Hunters looks like crap; the reason Metroid Prime didn't suck nards was because it wasn't Ye Olde FPS game. Thus, co-op and not "DEATHMATCH CTF OMG FRAGS" mode, plz. :'(

  B) Prime 1, which I have not played, looks like it feels like a Metroid game. MP3:C, though, looks like balls from the videos I've seen. :'( The Ridley fight, while cool, is not Metroid-y: it's the kind of supar-scripted, repetitive fight that fits in well with Gods of War. In fact, much of Corruption looks like it's becoming Gods-of-War-y: the whole "use your left hand to grab sheilds away from enemies" gimmick, combined with the TERRIBLE TERRIBLE LEVEL DESIGN (it's all solid grey and glowing blue, WTF) make me suspect that the game will totally suck anus and play unlike anything even remotely Metroid-related.

I didn't see a lot of hateful threads in the Corruption section, so let this be the official one, if you will. >:'(

everybody knows it's true
As you will later encounter, ALL of Prime's bosses are scripted.
Also, that particular Ridley fight looks super-emotionally charged. Plummeting to seemingly certain doom, Samus still kicks his arse (or tries to, depending on how well the controls and the hands controlling the controller work.)

:P Yeah, but in this one it would seem that even the environment is scripted. Or something. Look, one of the joys of the 2d metroids is that they're tile-based, and the engine is written in such a way that you can interact with the environment on a per-tile basis. I mean stuff like, if you know how to use walljumps properly, you can get to freaky places if the designers "misplaced" a tile somewheres, allowing you to walljump off of it.

In a freefall boss battle (in what looks like a big, totally smooth & featureless tube), ALL concentration is on the boss, and in this case on shooting it. So a lot of the control and Samus-feel is gone... so you won't get things like Tool-Assisted speedrunners doing fun things while they wait for Crocomire's mouth to open, because there are no fun things to do.

Anyways, more important is that the whole game looks like that to some degree: you need to use the grapple beam in a pre-scripted way to defeat sheild enemies. You need to use the grapple beam in a pre-scripted way to open certain doors. I think sequence breaking and just general open-endedness in the controls will be dead in Corruption, based on what I've seen. :'(
As others have said many times before, Retro would want to show off the most action oriented pieces of the game in order to build interest for those outside of the main fanbase. I still have complete confidence in them that they can pull off what we want them to do by giving us the exploration aspect of the Metroid series. They did a superb job with this in Prime, and while Echoes is more linear it still gives the players enough freedom to try and find their own paths, even thought it becomes obvious a little quicker that you shouldn't be going a certain way just yet.

Besides, think of Fusion. How many times are there scripted events there, while still retaining the overall feel of Metroid? (Like I've been saying lately: Fusion has been growing on me the last few times I've been playing it.)

It's a bit hard to tell scriptedness from a demo, since well, they have to keep you on the rails because there's nothing outside the rails.

Ok, wait-- I like this screenshot here. But most of what I've been seeing has been similar to this one over here, which looks gross. :'(

Also, I'm not sure if this here is supposed to be sexy, or something, but like... no. Just say no. :P That's frightening.

It's like "Dark Samus gone wild". :|
You do realize that most of the screenshots have been from the demo levels, right?  We're talking 30 minutes of the game at most.  If the individual areas didn't have coherence, it would make for poor game design.

As for "sexy" DS, what's sexy about that?  It looks more like she's absorbing power or some such.

Edit: I'm editing all my really big useless posts into this so you don't waste your time reading them. If I should just leave them how they are then tell me and I'll stop editing them, but I think it would be better to not waste room on the page and stop if someone tells me to, than leaving them here to be annoying.
There's a video somewhere confirming that it is Dark Samus's new look. It's a minute long trailer from GameTrailers I believe. (You see Dark Samus and Samus in the same scene, but not on the screen at the same time.)

I completely agree with you. If y'all think back to Prime at prerelease, most of the trailers you saw on TV involved the most intense parts of Prime, including Phazon Mines and the Parasite Queen.
>:'( Fine. Throw down my opinion and stomp it in the dust.

I need to find a forum full of frumpy old people to gripe with.
We have no problem with your opinion.

We're just helping your facts.  It's OK if you continue to hate it, just know what you're hating.
But my opinion is not fact-based. By introducing facts into the equation, you're automatically ruining everything.

For whatever it's worth, Producing Moose, I think Dark Samus looks styoopid, too...  Like stitched-together turtle shells or some shit...
