I was just wondering, what is the TAS world record escape time?

The best I have seen is 49:22:

This was done by Taco and Kriole

I found 49:23 a while ago, which is the record, though it should be noted that this is the only improvement I have made to the escape timer. Basically all credit goes to Taco for optimizing the last few frames in Ceres.

Basically the "improvement" is that I fire a shot inside a door just before running through, which creates lag. Now the reason this improves the timer is that the timer can either move down by 00:02 or 00:01 per frame, and this is (as far as I know) decided not by the amount of ingame frames that have passed but how many frames in total (counting lag frames). Thus, by adding lag to the door I get a "clock pattern" that is 00:01 shorter while not actually being faster. And this can only be done in one room because the rest of the rooms already had the best patterns.

I was hoping to get an answer from you.

A frame of lag was the only that changed the time? Do you think that any more improvement is even possible?

I can't imagine any at least.
Well, I have gotten out of the first room, right after Ridley, with a good 59'91 on the clock. You sure it can't be improved? I normally do a Up angle before running into the door. If you get the perfect frame, it will be around that. I may, maybe not, have had it higher than that. I know though, I had it at 59'91, for sure.

For all I know, and for all everyone who has ever tried to TAS ceres this can't be true without something extraordinary happening. For example in the 49:23 I posted (and in plenty of older runs as well) as go past the door on the first frame it lets me, with as high speed as you could possibly gather, and as close to the door as you can possibly come without running in to it the frame before. And I armpump every frame. Still 59:87 is the best anyone has ever gotten, and to improve that by a frame alone you would need to gain 4-5 pixels of extra distance after passing the door, and to improve it by the necessary two frames 9-10 or so, which even if you do reach 2.0 speed before the door (which is impossible by all known means) which is the highest speed without speedbooster would not be enough to gain that distance.

So I think it is fair to say that I want smv proof of this.

I can beat that on console, without the run button. Wink

Eh, I'm so used to writing 49:somthing when it comes to ceres...
Mmm well, once I tried it, I realized that I was incorrect. The best I got was 85. Also... I think it just might be possible to jump into the room at the lowest spot, turning around at the perfect pixel to enter the room early, instead of just running through. Would that save time? I actually got 86 because I was jumping. So, I think maybe you could do better by trying.

The door is basically made of four solid blocks until it 'opens', at which point they disappear, and you can pass.  Cpadolf (and others) enter the door on the first possible frame, with the greatest possible speed.  I'm fairly certain that this part at least would have been tried to death by numerous TASers.  It was a kind of challenge at one point, just to see who could get the best Ceres time, so it has been tested a LOT.

Well, if you are talking about when leaving Ridleys room then that wouldn't do much good now would it? You'd have to accelerate again in the next room wasting a lot of time.

59'87 isn't that terribly hard. Try getting 47'XX finish time on NTSC instead.

Taco has had ideas for improvements, but I believe he is not only bored with Ceres, but also pre-occupied with toying around with Redesign.

I'm trying to get 46 on PAL unassisted. That's difficult like 47 is on NTSC. I managed 47 on NTSC with savestaes at door transitions and slowdown. I'm not a perfectionist TASer. I arm pump fast. Hit a falling tile, ledge grab well, nothing special really. It was to show human playing leval at the max.

Probabaly quite late but well done for you and Taco for your any% TAS record. It's awesome to watch.
