Hello all,

I'm creating a flash game using super metroid sprites.  I was wondering how to capture video from the emulator the way it is being shown on this site.  Thank you for your help.
Thread title:
Use a program like FRAPS, google for it.
I'll be back. Maybe...
Alternatively you could just get the sprites from a site like
http://tsgk.captainn.net
Or, alternately, you could rip the rom with a common rom extracting program.  It's much less efficient than the above poster's method, but I thought you should know because KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Does it work with a certain emulator?  I'm using ZSNES and I have no idea how to get fraps going.  I've tried changing the hotkey, the size of the emulator window but I'm not getting anywhere.  Any thoughts?
maybe camtasia works for you.
no camtasia only captures 1 fps when I use it with the emulator.  So I'm still outta luck.  There's gotta be a way.
i use camtasia. you will need a ridiculously powerful machine like rachel's pc (which i am using) to even get close to the ~59 fps i get, though. also, be sure the emulator is set to its default (smallest) size, and that you are only capturing the emulator window. close all other applications, connect your sound card to itself, blah blah. it's usually easier to just let me do it, thus ... why i'm always the one who does it.

Speaking of which, Nate, could you give me a quick rundown on how to record from the screen at at least 4fps? I've been trying to record a demo video from a game with it and it seems to capture around one frame each four seconds. o_O
what speed cpu do you have? i just do select window and click on the zsnes window, then move into zsnes and hit play on the play zmv screen. after a second or so, it levels out to ~59 fps.
Heh, I've used VDub to record straight from my consoles before, and it works quite nicely.  All you need is a VIVO capable video card, and just hook one of your sound jacks into the line-in on your sound card (I'm pretty sure there's an adapter you can get that will allow you to hook both sound jacks in for stereo).

If you don't have any blank tapes or DVDs to record your console play, this is actually a nice and easy way to do it (albeit you need a VIVO video card and that sound adapter).

Athlon XP 2000+ @ 1.6GHz. Is that powerful enough? >_>
that is probably the problem. i recommend at least a 3000+. also make sure the disk you are recording to is nice and fast; i use a raid 0 (striped) of two sata disks.
i find it alot easier to pop a tape in and hit the Record buttons...then send it to people like njanke (spl?) who runs sites like this and let them do the hard stuff. Mission Accomplished!

It's "njahnke" or "Nate," since you asked, although you can just look at his name above his avatar for the spelling.
