I don't know where this came from... wasn't a topic on SDA either. Ah well...
Thread title:
'Tis a great run!  Even better with the standard Samus suit. :)

The runner skillfully navigates the annoying enemies in Brinstar each time through.  At times (such as when leaving the hideouts) one can tell that he knows just where enemies will be when entering rooms, and avoids them quite handsomely.

The only noticable "mistake" in this run is the over-filling of energy/missiles before Ma Brain.  He would have easily broken the 28 minute barrier by having more confidence in his strategy (in which not much is depleated).  There was also a bizzare incident in Hideout I which cost a few seconds (the game's fault).

There were a few times which looked like rapid fire (with missiles) - was that just spamming 'B' or was it the real deal?

Quite a fun run to watch; and wholly unexpected.

Edit******* Do you mean rapid firing of missiles? Or just the regular beam?

Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate that. And unfortunately I didn't find out about the rapid fire  technique until after I had completed this run. So what you see there is just me mashing the B button as fast as humanly possible.

*Ponders how much faster the Ridley fight could have been...*

Im glad you enjoyed the run!
Awesome run.
Did he beat Scarlet's record?
Nah, Radix decided to replace Red Scarlet's run with a slower one.
Uh-oh.  My Sarcasm Detector just exploded.

Awesome run.  Hearty congrats to you sir.  When I get a bit of free time, I'll be DLing and watching this for certain.
Thanks, and on a side not, I'm trying to get my brothers band http://www.lazlohollyfeld.com/ to make a soundtrack to it because I know these Metroid speedruns can be boring for a lot of ppl. If anyone else feels like throwing one together feel free.[/url]

That link is broken.

Anyway, great run, and totally unexpected. Love when I get on the forum and see a random surprise waiting for me. Am downloading now.
For anyone that watched this: was there any speed tricks that I missed or anywhere that I could improve this run? That is, outside of accidentally hitting enemies or falling in lava.

I thought I heard a mention somewhere of a  faster way to climb the tower of destroyable blocks out of Kraids Hideout, but i'm not sure i'm remembering that correctly.

Any suggestions are appreciated  8)

Here's what I'd do. Go to http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/EmulatorHomepages.html and download the version of FCEUltra with re-recording. Make an impeccable (not impossible) movie of you playing through Norfair. Time it, and add that time to Spider-Waffle's time of 18:35 (or my 17:15 time, whatever). That will give you a decent estimate of what is possible time-wise for a 2-boss run, as well as help you in figuring out how to improve your run.
Hope that helps.
