Got really good times, but I slacked off in the end and didn't really care about good bossfights, often stopped to kill monsters, it was a failure. Well, I'll never be a real speedrunner, I can keep pretending, can't i?
Well the one i just completed a bit ago was 1:42 with 100%. Its norm like 1:35, 1:37. But this run i actually saved alot, cause i was attempting alot of the speed tricks i see on this site. I completed prob more then 50% of them perfectly, but oddly it didnt seem to help me much. It was prob most of those save rooms, either that or i did to much thinking before i performed each trick. I did alot of practicing, but ill prob need to do some more to shave off on that time. The 1:35 1:37 figure is practically with no tricks. Maybe a couple, but they would be the minor, or easy to do ones.
Right, I need help checking the time it takes for two tricks compared to the normal way in Sector 4, first visit. I'm not that good at timing stuff... 1. Sess' underwater walljump after Serris, how much faster is that route? 2. When you load a spark on the button that lowers water, is it faster, just as fast, or slower, to do a diagonal shinespark and run right, or to do it the normal way?
I'm pretty sure that after lowering the water, it is faster to do a diagnol spark and then run. It's faster cause: 1: Speed boosting is faster than sparking. 2: You don't have to run back at all to be able to charge a spark for the low-height shinespark soon after. 3.........See reasons 1 & 2.
I mean if you shinespark straight you have to backtrack like 3-5 steps, but if you shinespark diagonally you have to run through that entire room. My question meant: If you shinespark straight, is it so much faster than running through the room that it compensates for the backtracking? I think it very well may be so, but going diagonal is probably still faster since speed booster kicks in earlier.
Way 1: Shinespark through the whole room, run back a bit, then run and get a charge at the end of the run. Way 2: Diagonal spark, followed by one third of the way running, and two thirds speeding. (You don't get a ticket, though.)
I was bored so I did it both ways and counted the frames, very bored, and as suspected way 2 is faster in the long run. But way 1 was faster through the first room, which was what I was trying to say before.
About the walljumping thing

According to my precice and pain-staking calculations, this way is faster, I think, by maybe a secondish. Overall, probably not worth the trouble.
