Sometimes, when you let the opening demos run (what happens when you don't press a button as the game opens), they will show an unusual sequence of demos, including a crystal flash, shinespark, and (IIRC) IBJing. Ordinarily, those don't run; the game just shows three sets of six pretty ordinary demos, with the sets repeating. Does anybody know what triggers the unusual set?
Thread title:
Almost happy
I think new sets are unlocked when you progress further into the game, the last one with IBJ and shinesparking are unlocked last, presumably after completing the game once.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
There are 3 sets of demos normally, a fourth is unlocked when you beat the game.
Related trivia: If you turn on Super Metroid and there are no saves, the game writes "madadameyohn" to your SRAM (you can get away with deleting all your saves if you immediately start a new game though). I'm not sure what yohn is supposed to mean, but mada dame (まだ ダメ) means "still no good". When you finish the game, after the game shows your percent it replaces that with "supermetroid". The entire string is checked, if it is "supermetroid" then the fourth set of demos are shown.
still not good... enough, maybe?¨xd
Hey thanks Kejardon, I really did always wonder how that worked.  :P

I always love enabling some Game Genie codes that mess with the opening scenes.  laugh new
Once you beat the game the opening demos change to include CF, and speed-ball
