Heh, I got bored last night so I started a game of Super Metroid but made it a point not to go out of the way to get the High Jump boots. Everything is going pretty smoothly, I just have to do a lot of freezing bad guys and wall jumping, as well as little spot of bomb jumping here and there.
This is the first time I've intentionally not gotten an item to make the game a little easier...am I burning out or something? :D
What do you with Super Metroid when you're bored of playing it the *normal way?

* = getting all the E-Tanks, reserve tanks, weapons, items, etc that you can
Thread title:
Play with 26% items (The fastest ones I know) and try to get the best time as possible.

I've already picked up 99% items without high jump, so it's possible, and yes, I usually get pretty bored while playing video-games, it's always fun to try out something new.
I'll be back. Maybe...
Try 98% without high jump or ice beam.
Skip Space jump, screw attack, high jump and all beams.
Last time I got bored with SM I got into the Wrecked Ship backwards by going through Maridia without the gravity suit.  Or try a reverse suit run.
I'll be back. Maybe...
What would you need to do for that... Gravity glitch to break into Ridley... Charge is easy to skip if you have enough missiles... Spazer likewise... Ice needs walljumping everywhere... Wave I think is easy enough as long as you can get around various barriers. And, of course, use the Green Gate Glitch with a beam. Plasma's easy enough to skip.

Skip all the items and break into Tourian through Warfair. But first you have to hack it into the game.
Armor Guardian
It's possible to get bored of Super Metroid?!?!?!

Reverse Boss Order Run (Ridley, Draygon, Phatoon, Kraid)
Considering you can get 75% of the game's items before Ridley, that's really not too much of a problem.
Considering you need gravity suit to get to Draygon...
I think it would be nice to skip, say Spore Spawn. Exactly, how would I physically get around going to Spore Spawn's room?
Also no high jump has proven to be a bit of a pain in the butt cheeks in certain areas, such as the one really big room in Maridia with the grapple blocks hanging from the ceiling. Miss one and down you go, miss hitting one of those floating creatures that you can use for grapple blocks and you hit the floor - for me, usually the very bottom. Yes, I suck. Then it's shinespark time. The only problem is, I've been trying to get from area to area as quickly as possible and not really worrying about energy tanks or missiles or whatnot, just quickness. I imagine Ridley and Mother Brain will be joys to fight.
Oh, and bomb jumping is easy when you've been practicing all day like me. Yeah I know, I have no life, bite me ;)
RT-5JJ: Never said I was bored of the game itself, just bored of playing it the way Nintendo designed it to be played :)
Skipping Spore Spawn is pretty easy if you know what to do.  You get the supers first thing as you get into Brinstar by using mockball.  To get the supers after Spore Spawn, you do a crystal flash next to the super missile block and super missile the box right after (you'll be crouching after the crystal flash.  Just make sure to have at least 11 super missiles when you do this).

The main page Super Metroid section has all the info you need to help you get into sequence breaking in SM.  Good luck and have fun :)
@ Ekarderif

You dont need the Gravity to get to Draygon.
You can skip it.

You can Skip both Suits and finish the Game...

If you want a challenge:

Try a Game to the Final save like the 14% Run but without energy tanks. (I cant defeat ridley at this Run)
I'll be back. Maybe...
But Ice Beam, Speed Booster and most importantly Ridley are behind multiple hot rooms with lava, so you'd need many, many energy tanks.
How would you get to Draygon, by chance? I've never seen anyone even reach Botwoon, let along Draygon. Even if you do reach him, there's no fucking way you can escape the room. So good luck bullshitting yourself into thinking it'll work.
I'll be back. Maybe...
You probably could get out of Draygon's room, given the number of glitches there are in there...
I know it works, cuz I did a Suitless rush.
You need the Little Metallic Snakes (dont know the name) to get Up to draygon. This needs ca. 2 Minutes.

When you are at Draygon you must do the Free JetJump Bug, than let You carry up and kill draygon From the Top Ledge With Charge/Wave Powerbomb. Get out of the room and JetJump out.

OK you dont have Space Jump too, but  its possible, believe me.
Ask for more details if you want to know...

@ skreemaster

I mean 14% Rush without Energy tanks
I'll be back. Maybe...
How do you get the Speed Booster without Varia or Energy Tanks?
What do you mean Skree? You pick up the Varia in a 14%, but you don't pick up the speed booster.
I'll be back. Maybe...
You were talking about a run skipping both suits. That means no Varia.
14 percent Rush has

4 missiles and s-missiles(altogether)
3 E-Tanks
2 Suits
Ball
Bomb
P-Bomb
Charge
Ice or Speedbooster

And you should do this Rush without Tanks and only one S-Missile for a Challenge.

You took the varia normally, so I Dont understand your problem...
please explain me

Edit
I mean this for a challenge:14 % rush without energy Tanks
AND a suitless run.

This are 2 different challenges

"there's no flickerbat way you can..."
... Hehe.... I used to have people tell me it was flat out impossible to get into Lower Norfair without the Space Jump.

Navigating up to the grapple room a bit before Botwoon is pretty well known; it's part of NBMB. From there, it isn't difficult to ride a Yard up to the top of the room to the mochtroid room. There, you freeze a mochtroid at the right spot, and jump through the one-way crumble blocks. Kill Botwoon, head right, and jump into the morph ball maze. Mid-air morph and jump into the exit, then just mid-air morph when you reach a place you would normally bomb jump (it's not too difficult without the Gravity Suit). From there, liberal use of frozen Mochtroids can get you to Draygon.

Escaping Draygon's room is a pain. You *need* blue suit (or at least a one-shot super jump) when you leave Draygon's room, and you also need to be on the top right corner of the room. So, oddly enough, you can kill Draygon, but you can't pick up the Space Jump.
Anyways, to pull that off, I think the easiest method was to get a CF Super Jump (Just let Draygon grab you while you're doing a crystal flash, then be careful not to do anything that would trigger a super jump). Weaken Draygon so he's just about to die, then let him grab you, and escape to the right and land on the ledge (Start with right, do 14 1/2 complete circles, then wait till you're above the ledge, and hit right). It's possible to kill him just by standing on the far left of the ledge, then firing to the right at *just* the right time. You also can't be hurt from there, but you have an annoyingly low chance at hitting him.

From there, you just walk to the right, position yourself exactly on the second square block that looks like it has a vent on it (four blocks right of the door), then super jump straight up.
Somebody who understands me...  THX
Hmm, I was under the assumption that the grapple room would be a stopping point towards Draygon. And heading out, but apparently Kejardon has a way, as usual.

Oh and Necroweapon, thanks for the explanation. I appreciate your comprehensiveness about proving me wrong.

Eh, it's annoying, but it's not *that* bad.
Although, it does help *immensely* if you constantly break out of spin jumps. Spin jumping onto quicksand = almost guaranteed to sink. Although spin jumping *off* of quicksand works much better than jumping straight up. And whatever you do, do *NOT* turn just before landing in quicksand. You sink like a rock. You'll probably need to freeze a mochtroid right next to you to 'climb' out (Samus can 'hang' on a frozen enemy for a few moments).

Random: It'd be neat to have a t-shirt saying "Frozen enemies can solve any problem!" and have a frozen rinka, a frozen mochtroid, and a frozen leech-type-thing on it. :)
And a ghost. Almost forgot that one.
LOL!! i agree!! man. if someone's willing to do the graphical stuff, i'd sell them for zero profit from the super metroid section (cafe press).
