I don't think this has ever done before. I could be wrong. I certainly don't recall seeing anything about it like this. Could this be used to save time?

It won't be faster in any route that collects X-ray and Ice Beam at separate times, the detour to World is just too small to be cut out by something like this. Even if both are collected at the same time, like in the TAS route, I can't see early World saving much time, if any at all. We already discussed this a bit in the TAS thread.
