Okay, how in the fucking hell do you do a IBJ??? None of the usual advice ever works, and there's no way I can get 100% <2:00 without  using the fucking IBJ... *sigh*

first, open a new file to try.

Then, bash the bomb button, in different speeds, until you go up. Then practice that. Until you can bash in that speed at command.

Done! :D

Takes alot of time though :P

i concur. in zm all it is is pressing the button in a regular rhythm, maybe twice every one and a half seconds or so.

It's mostly done by feel and rhythm. Choose a wide open room in crateria to play around, and work at it. I drop a bomb every time the last one explodes, but you go faster if you put it a bit earlier. Oddly, I find diagonal bj'ing actually easier than vertical. Wonder why that is.

just press the bomb button when the other bomb you placed explodes.  Well a little bit before it then repeat

I never knew you could lay one above you to jump on, I kept trying only right before it blew up, and had no idea how I could do diagonal Bomb jumping. That seemed impossible until I saw the early Varia Suit trick.

No luck... I can do it sparingly, but I can't do it well enough to get early Varia. Anybody have another 100% route that I can use?

Right when bomb 1 goes off, lay bomb two. When you're at the top, lay bomb three, and when bomb three goes off, lay bomb four, and at the top, lay bomb five, etc.

Count into yourself. I usually say slowly to myself

ONE, ONE, ONE, ONE

every time I say ONE I lay a bomb. it helped me with the timing.

I'm using the technique I used in Super as well, although there's far more room for error in ZM.

First, morph and lay a bomb. Lay another one just before the first explodes, then lay another bomb every .5 seconds or so. Basically, after the first bomb, you can keep pushing the fire button at a steady rate.

no matter how you go about it, varia without high-jump/power grip is a massive pain to get.

It's not that bad. After doing it in my games 10 times or so, I've gotten a lot better at it. I've picked up some tricks from Red Scarlett, and so only need four IBJ's from bomb room to varia. You can use the skip acid worm trick of bombing across a hole to eliminate one. (the one where you fall down the 1 block wide shaft onto a slow crumble.) The only IBJ I still have problems with is the last, air morphing onto the slow crumble and IBJ'ing.

Yoshi, my advice remains the same. Practice in Crateria, and lay a bomb at the instant the last one explodes. And sorry, the early varia is pretty important for 100% runs, unless you're willing to skip it.

Just slam the B button at a certain rate. Works for me. Should work with you. If it doesn't,I pity you. Laughing

I usually do two quick (but no instant) taps of B, then pause for half a second, then repeat.

Wait until you try the Horizontal Bomb Jumping! I'm currently working on a 15% speed run on my GBASP. Just beat Kraid, and I'm gonna do Norfair tomorrow. I might do Varia suit today, but I'm not sure. It depends on if I get it right in under an hour of retrying.

Wait, do you have to do HBJ in 15% runs? Cause I don't think I can do it... I've never used it so far, nor DBJ though I can do that. All I've used is IBJ to the top of the room, then place my last bomb so it shoots me to the left. Worked for me on Varia and early Screw Attack.

And doing IBJ. Not much to say. I like just going one two three four, one two three four. Do two counts per second. Should work. That or just mash the button and you'll eventually do it.

Nope. All it's used for is getting to Kraid without both the ziplines and the Power Grip.
