Woah, it's been a while - what happened to the layout?!

Anyway, for months and months I've been pondering - I have all 3 Metroid Primes in mint condition.  I also picked up Trilogy - also mint, and having 2 different versions of the games makes no sense to me.  I thought of selling the individual games when I got hold of Prime but the lack of the presence of the awesome title screens (and editing 'damn' out of #3) means that Trilogy isn't quite as 'complete' as the others... does that make any sense to anyone?

Even though #1 and #2 are advanced in other ways like 16:9 (the controls don't fuss me either way), I'm inclined to keep the originals over the Trilogy... but then there are all the extras in Trilogy as well.  I don't know what to do.  Am I weird for even thinking all of this?

Anywhere, everywhere
Keep the originals if you want to sequence break, trilogy if you want the more complete package with all of those bonuses.
I like turtles.
Considering that (correct me if I'm wrong) most of the bonuses in Trilogy are available in their respective installments, and the oft-mentioned nerfing of sequence breaks by Retro, and that you don't care about Trilogy's superior controls, and if you really must sell either the originals or your copy of Trilogy, I would advise you to sell Trilogy, since it will fetch you a much higher price.

the trilogy is worth a great deal atm and will only increase in value in the future. depends on if you care about that though.

Use that logic.

And if they're really Mint in packaging, Trilogy will fetch a much higher price. Prime 1-00 mint might get you a lot too, but probably only from a Speed runner collector. (There's also no way to tell you have -00 until you open it...)

Personally I have both.
Prime and Echoes on GCN and Trilogy. (I sold back Corruption to get Tril)
I have the former two in case I ever feel like easier sequence breaking. I have the Trillogy because I love the sense of a complete package.
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
keep them all, having metroid prime 1 and 2 with wii controls makes almost a different game and the fact that you need the take a different route if you sequence break in the GC ones

i have the ntsc u 0-00, PAL and PC of metroid prime and dont plan on selling any plus i have the trilogy, two metroid prime 2 echoes and corruption

(Corruption also has some fixed glitchs on the trilogy)

Sorry, I should have mentioned - I've played them taking my time and exploring, I'm not one for glitches or speedruns.  I'm just a completist that wants to scan and collect everything.

The controls don't really make it feel that different for me.

Also, by 'mint', I don't means sealed, but the booklets have stayed in the case, and I've only ever touched the disc or case with freshly washed and dried hands and kept the case on a clean, smooth surface and out of sunlight.  I think I will keep Trilogy for the moment for it to increase in value... can I ask what bonuses there are on Trilogy?

Well, for one thing, it's a lot easier to unlock the Fusion Suit in Prime, if you care about that.

Also, since you mentioned liking to try to scan everything, it should be noted that you'll keep your Logbook progress in the Trilogy editions of the games (provided you save upon completing them).

sell back value would be the deal breaker in this situation going by what's have been posted.
selling the trilogy disc is the best choice since the other 3 games get very low value nowadays (you can get mp1 used for like $5 or less)
if, by some chance, you manage to get a better deal for the 3 individual games and you end up with more money, sell them instead.

this is the first time i've seen the strengths of either versions aren't used to decide which version to keep. i'd keep both since there's sufficient differences between them to jusify having them all.
I have the Fusion suit already in GC MP1!  The scanning either way isn't an issue really, MP1 on Trilogy is far more polished though - I'd rahter they'd just released Wii versions of 1&2 like they did in Japan, you've got a whole game that's been improved upon then.  Oh well.

Yeah, I would have shelled out the extra money for both Prime and Echoes on separate discs.

But differences are:
Easier Fusion suit in Trilogy
No NES Metroid link in Trilogy
Contiguous scan logs in Trilogy

Sequence breaks and "advanced techniques" in GCN versions
Prime Arm Cannon effects in GCN versions (Echoes maintains effects in Trilogy)
Water ripples when moving through/firing into water in GCN versions

That's all I can think of.
There are still many sequence breaks in the trilogy, just harder to perform.

Item Loss Skip - Echoes
Oh, well what I probably should have said was there are still many sequence breaks in the trilogy version of metroid prime. I'm not sure about the other 2 games.

other then dark suit skip theres not much in echoes

and almost everything was fixed in corruption (well there wasn't much in the way of glitching anyway)

mp3 has none practically. they even put invisible walls to stop them.

mp2 got nerfed big time because 90% of the speed tricks are gone by removing BSJ, IS and SA clipping. only some SWs and ghetto jumps were left in.
If you really like the Prime games, then I say keep both versions.  My personal experience has been that if I trade or sell a game that I like, I end up regretting it and re-buying it a couple of years later.  If you absolutely must part with either the trilogy or the original versions, then keep the trilogy since it's worth more and you aren't really interested in sequence breaking anyways.  Besides, the wii controls are superior to the GCN controls, imo.  I think you may be insulted by what you might get for your original prime games, though.  Alot of places will only give you $1 for metroid prime (shitty, aint it?), because the used game market is already saturated with copies of that game.  If you do have a 00-0 copy, I wouldn't place any more value on it because I bet only about 1 in 10,000 players even knows what that means, and those who do already have one anyways.

wouldn't it be backwards to keep the trilogy if the originals net him very low money?

mp1 GC's resale value is so low that you might just burn the disc instead.

Only if money is the only goal.

that true.

going by his posts, it seems that the defining factor of each of the games doesn't matter since he doesn't care about either pointer controls and sequence breaks.

another advantage of the trilogy is that it takes up way less space since it is just 1 disc and case vs 3 discs/cases from the separate games.

either way, the easiest to sell game from the lot is the original mp3. the trilogy version is near identical outside sequence breaks. keeping mp1 and 2 on gc and the trilogy disc would be the best combo for widest variety and options going by his needs.
