I've been talking about this run for a while, but until now I've had nothing to show for it. About a month ago, I completed Segment 1, but thanks to my stupid dvd recorder, the disc I was using to record was ruined. Thankfully, I was able to send it over to Nate, and with the help of DJGrenola, they were able to recover most of the data. Many thanks to both of them.

So yeah, here's a link so you can download the vid.

A couple things about it:

1. You'll notice that right at the end before I save it, the video cuts off. This is because they were not able to recover the last bit of data from the disc. They got most of the data off though, and they are working on getting this last bit.

2. Something I'm not proud of, this segment isn't very pretty, it does have quite a few mistakes and things that I could have done a bit faster. I decided to keep this attempt because I have been re-playing these first ten minutes of gameplay over and over again, for a long time. A long time. I chose to keep this one because I really couldn't stand it anymore. This is one of the most difficult and long segments in my run though, so you can know that this is as ugly as it's going to get.

I hope you all enjoy this, thanks.
Thread title:
lol no way
I will second that: This is one of the most difficult segments of any run, so mad props to getting it out man!

I'm watching it and here's what I'm noticing:
You hive room was rediculously efficient/smooth, I really liked that, as well as the way you went about going down to/coming back up from the charge beamst's area.
The way you left the varia suit area, by jumping into the blue vertical room and shooting downward, was unexpected and smooth.
Getting the E-Tank in the cieling near the beginning was also something I'd forgotten that you do, and I liked the way you went about doing it, by missiling the skree immediately after unmorphing.. mostly cause that was rad.

Lots of little things that I enjoy doing, I see you doing, and it makes me happy; stuff like falling off edges in morph ball, then bouncing and just falling right off another edge to bounce again. I dunno why, but I get a lot of joy out of that, and enjoyed watching you do it.

What was the final segment time? I don't doubt it will be lower than mine was, as I got varia suit in mine, but I'm still curious.
Mister ...
To get a sub 59 100% run, that's crazy.  But, I'm gonna encourage you all the way, because, like I said, that's crazy.  It's gonna take a lot of skillz, and alot of perfect timing etc. to get everything perfect.  So, I wish you the best of luck.
I remembered I planned to do a 100% normal no-damage run, and well, that segment brings back some memories now that I've given up... >_>
First of all, I wasn't very comprehensive about the mistakes (except for after the long beam, it's such a pain), but I realize you skipped the save point so you had to do multiple ibjs. About that, congratulations. It was awesomely impressive, and I haven't been able to do that even after lot of training. Most impressive trick : spin jumping before entering a door. Despite of that, I know you know you what mistakes you made, but you shouldn't have been walljumping at the fourth room (1:11), so you would have been able not to take damage from that flying thing. Just my two cents...
Overall, I think this segment is pretty, really. Good work indeed, very good work!

if i recall correctly, he said his time was 6:42. i saw this yesterday and thought it was pretty good - the beginning had a few mistakes (first vertical room in brinstar comes to mind, as does coming back after long beam). charge beamst also wasn't optimized, though that is luck's fault and not yours.

everything else looked really nice. i loved your cocoon room the most and thought that your bomb jumping on the way up to varia was flawless. far better than i could do.

nice job so far. i know how difficult/annoying first segment is (mine's even worse since i save long until tourian), so those mistakes are understandable. everything is downhill from there.
Wow, lookin' good Kridly. Can't wait for the rest...

...looks like it'll be a bitch to take down when it's done.

Must resist urge to run MZM again...
So what about the future segments? Are you working on them? Do you have some route planning? Any information would be grealty appreciated, thanks a lot.
By the way if the playing quality is about to be even better in segment 2 I couldn't not appreciate the run ;) .
Thanks for the comments guys.

Yes, I am working on finishing this run. I won't be putting each segment up individually, they'll all go up after it's complete. As for the route, it's pretty much the same as the current 100% hard run, but there are some minor changes like saves and the order that I get a few tanks, but that's about it.
Out of curiosity, why have you chosen to post up all the segments when you've completed the run? I just personally like watching runs segmented (Like Dragonfangs' 0% Fusion run), and was hoping yours would do the same.

always best to have a finished product. for example, on my 28:50, i got tired of trying for hours to get a perfect segment and ended up with 29:01. i talked to some people (gamecube, nate, aj, etc) and told them about the result and they all agreed that i should try harder to get 28:xx. i went back to my tourian save and retried until i got as close to perfect as i could without driving myself insane and cut off 11 seconds.

NICE SEGMENT KRIDLY!  Wink

What your time is after your save your segment? My time 100% normal before Acid worm is 8.06 and before kraid 11.28. my clear time is 58.54 but i play my run normal mode and i know hard mode took several minutes longer to beat than normal mode.

How many time you save your game? i save my 100% run 14 times, i think it is too much, but it is very frustrating if you save game less than 14 times.
just a note that i've tried anew to get the end of the segment off the disc, and i do not believe it is on there, at least not in a way a normal dvd drive can read it. however, the segment will still be accepted, because it's clear he did 99.9% of what he claims to have done from that video. i don't think anyone here doubts kridly's ability to save the game in a save room.
