OVERBLAST
Jump on an enemy to climb on
top of it and press 1 once
you're fully charged.

LETHAL STRIKE
Press D-Pad toward a downed
enemy while pressing 1.
Once fully charged, you'll
launch a strong attack.

ACCEL CHARGE
This will make you charge faster.

Fusion's Sector based world is back. There's even a main elevator room.

Accel charges make your charge beam charge faster instead of being shine spark fuel as we thought before.

Bleh.
Fusion was good, don't hate.

Just watched the footage, and I gotta say, I'm loving the enemy variety.

The map constantly displays an arrow indicating the direction of your next target, sort of like Metroid Fusion. Again, it’s a mission-based game of sorts, and you’ll receive somewhat irregular spoken briefings from your former commander, Adam, to that end. Fortunately, much of the “getting there” involves classic Metroid explorative techniques

I just remembered something else I need to address: the auto-aim system. At first I was pretty bummed that you don’t really have to aim much at all. In corridors, you can spam the A button and kill flying creatures with hardly any effort at all. However, when things open up, you’ll be thanking the Gods for this mechanic

There are NO health pickups; if you get really, really low, you can exercise a technique where you sit still for a few moments and hold A while pointing the Wii remote upward; it's called "Concentration". This refills your missiles and your first energy tank. Thankfully, in between save points you will also find regular checkpoints, such as just before a boss battle or tricky sequence.

I'm okay with being wrong sometimes, Nintendo, you didn't have to actually make this Fusion 2.

Fusion was good, but it's not a game developers should be taking their cues from when it comes to making a Metroid game.

The "Concentration" thing is still dumb as hell, by the way.
Well, it could make low% runs easier in a sense because as the quote suggests it refills the first e-tank. But yeah, that could become quite painful if you happen to be in a bad spot and can't get refills.

Seconded.
ANKOKU
It's the ONE new thing they're bringing to the party (outside of powerups we haven't seen). I think it's part of Ninty's new "Casual and Hardcore" vision.

It makes it incredibly easy for those who like to have atleast 99~100 HP, whereas it makes it more interesting for the Hardcore gamers because there's no health and the tension simply rises as your health keeps whittling down.

I don't look at it as "Lawl refill health by doing nothing". I see it as "You don't get any outside help to heal. Good luck."
Cause I know I'm probably going to avoid using "Concentration" my first time through unless I'm out of missiles.

Though that could probably be made akin to not using the Light and Dark Beam from Echoes...
red chamber dream
i think the concentration thing is pretty cool. it's no different from auto-regenerating health and in most ways even better. also sounds like no health pickups would make the game a little harder so i'm down.

I'd rather just have recharge rooms and energy tanks. It makes more sense than being able to restore health and missiles just by standing there and thinking real hard.
red chamber dream
it's no weirder than anything else you do in a video game. who cares.
From what I hear you're still going to be able to fully recharge energy at save points like the Prime series does. And energy tanks are still in, but we'll only get to use concentration to refill the first one based on that quote PizzaBoy posted.

Definitely an interesting twist compared to the massive amounts of health you can get in the more recent Metroid games.

This is a poor endorsement. Auto regenerating health is also stupid, you should not be rewarded for being a baby. Give me my damn pick ups, at least I have to work for those.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
this would be like Fusion 4 going by how Nintendo makes Metroid games now.

at least the "concentration" thing is something that wastes time so it won't be seen on a speed run. it makes sense that it refills health but missiles? aren't those physical ammo?
Club 27 Goals
We still don't know how long it takes to refill your stuff while concentrating. If you can just hold the wiimote upright and hold A for a second then meh.

Just goin off a random guess, probably 3 HP a second once in Concentration mode and I doubt they'll grant Conc. Mode to allow you to gain 250 Missiles in the span of less than 5 minutes.
I'm beginning to think that the missile count is going to be very small this time around. Almost looks like you only get one per expansion, since the count has been at varying numbers throughout the various gameplay videos with no consistent pattern that I can find. (Think 25 is the max I've seen in one of those, but I bet it goes to at least 50.)
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Adam only gave permission to use one missile from each expansion instead of the normal five. He'll authorize the other four once you beat the game.
lol no way
This game's gonna be freakin' awesome! I wonder why there wasn't really any notice made about the accel charge acquisition. It feels like RoS sort of.

Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
The concentration thing just makes me think of interesting low% possibilities.  We may see some great runs!  Not for me, as I'm allergic to not getting 100%. Razz

I'd also note that with the way the bombs appear to work, it looks like IBJing will (hopefully) be possible.

Yep.  At the end of the third video, you can see the player picking up a missile expansion, and the missile count goes from 15 to 16.

Yeah, I think so too. It IS pretty similar to auto-regenerating health, which feels really out of place in a Metroid game.

Honestly though I think its looking better than it was, at least from that footage. Again the variety is looking nice- I was afraid it was just going to be a collage of metal corridors and repetitive enemies.
Indie Lover
you can relate this concetration with the skill meditation of master yi on league of legends...

you stay imobile and regenerate your HP little by little, but you can't do it in the middle of a battle because it regenerate less than you are hit for...

you will probably will not be able to use it in the middle of boss battles or tricky parts (like if you escaping from lava or running from something...
Thought I read that if you get hit during Concentration, not only do you lose your regen, but you tack on the damage that was dealt as normal. So if you're at say 45 hp and you try to regen but get hit by something that does 50+, you're still dead no matter how far into the concentration you were.

So in other words, if you try to use concentration at the wrong time, you WILL die. If I understand it right it's an all or nothing deal, not a steady regeneration like other games tend to have. Can't remember where I read that though.
