I've watched it. Lots of good giggles, a neat zip-line/acid worm skipand... plenty of mistakes, even for me to catch. As nate said, it's scary that this improvement could be improved so much. Damn, what good players can achieve even while "screwing up". Even at my feasible, collective best, I'd [prolly] still be under this kind of play level.

I just watched it. Yeah this was so great run i am surprise you got so much better run than Transience SS run and even little bit faster than Transience segmented run.

***COMMENTS YOUR RUN***************************************
-My probably favorite part was hive room in Brinstar. I first time see perfect hive room on console. This was masterwork it looks almost TAS.

-There was some new things, you use different wall jump routes. Like Tourian escape was truly awesome. I loved it. :D

-Ridley fight was good because you have two ET MAX. You use new method against Ridley (100% run method) this not cost time got one more ET, because Ridley pay lot time back. I don,t know working this if you have only 1 ET max, i think not. Ridley was awesome fight, looks little risky and cool.

-Acid worm skip was awesome :)

-You have good refill luck in Tourian metroids, but you was little bit too cautions here. But i understand that, it is luck time here.

-You can use two SM against two first zebetites. If you have luck enought, you can collect one SM refill very quickly and you not need collect as many missile refills. This cost you little bit, but not very much. But it is always luck and big risk if you have bad SM luck.

-MB battle was good, but this can be done little bit faster, if you jump onto the MB ledge little bit more early. But yeah end of the fight looks very good.

-I am little disappoint because you don,t use energy less suitless part. This don,t save much time but this looks just so cool in video. But luckily you use that recharge, because it looks lot you was died against Chozo boss. This is just risky.

-Chozo boss was only real big error your run. 3 miss shots and pretty slow diagrams. But he is just so annoying and random. No fun fight.

-Truly awesome Suit part and end game, your speed really rock here.

I loved this run. But there is still rooms can be done faster. Many little mistakes, but luckily no big mistakes.

i haven't seen this run in a week or so, but i'll try to comment from memory:

- *great* hive room
- surprised you didn't start over afterwards, though, because you had a number of small mistakes on the way culminating with a failed bomb jump. i can see why you didn't when you nailed that hive room though
- you made great time all the way through to ridley
- i saw your run comments about getting the third energy tank to be safe for ridley, but i never had problems with two and the method you use for ridley doesn't really make up for it. i was surprised you went for this.
- best part of your run was easily from ridley to tourian. fantastic.
- tourian was ultra conservative, mother brain was kinda ugly but not worse than my single segment
- you recharged, boo. gamecube04 and i, back in the day, decided that skipping the recharge made that part look really impressive and exciting. getting your energy back is definitely not as flashy. nothing awful though
- haha suit boss
- great luck with mecha ridley's first claw attack and nice escape, i fail at the timing of the spark more often than not. surprised you didn't ballspark though, why not? so you could kill the red dude? waste of time, i'd think.

overall i honestly thought my segmented run looked better and i can't believe what time you got considering some of the huge mistakes. the suit boss practically cost you as much as every one of my saves. i guess you were just faster all around. my first two segments in my 28:50 were really lazy though as i was sick of the game by then and i can see how you made up the time there. good stuff.

Indeed not. The Chozo boss is awful. What was somewhat frustrating was that my first missed shot missed by just a hair. I recharged my energy in Chozodia with this guy in mind.

That was me getting lazy after having reset at the beginning for about 40 minutes prior. I still have to work on the bomb jump. I am fully adjusted to the GBP lag for the most part, but I haven't once pulled off that bomb jump ever since starting on the GBP.

I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about here. I got the third energy tank because of problems I had had with Chozodia the previous day. With the extra energy tank, I only had two before Ridley and then got the third after Ridley (I've found that 199 health isn't nearly enough to run into Ridley). Also, I've concluded that I break even by grabbing the extra energy tank for the different Ridley strat.

In my 28:53 single segment, I wasn't able to kill the second black pirate before the red one started attacking me. I lost about 4 or 5 seconds because of this, and wanted to play it safe. I haven't timed it, but I don't think it wastes more than about 2 seconds. I did it mainly because it was a single segment.

Wow, you guys didn't like that much, did you? I played it safe in various parts throughout the run because my life was about to get overwhelmingly busy, and I wanted to get a good-ish run recorded while I had the time. If I had had another few weeks to work on it, I wouldn't have settled for this run. I was somewhat reluctant to submit it. Worry yourself not, for I might soon find time to do another single segment run (28:20, 28:10 maybe?).

Your segmented run looks a lot prettier. On the other hand, I saved a lot of time through better jumps and the like. Skipping your saves saved me about 30 seconds or so, and I lost about 18 on the suit boss, so yes, I lost most of that time on the Chozo alone.

Yes, it was mostly the beginning to Tourian. When you factor in the time it takes to load, I was 33 seconds ahead of you at Tourian.

I'll definitely put more work into a future single segment run (as time permits).

Your segmented run looks a [i]lot[/i] prettier.  On the other hand, I saved a lot of time through better jumps and the like.  Skipping your saves saved me about 30 seconds or so, and I lost about 18 on the suit boss, so yes, I lost most of that time on the Chozo alone.

After downloading this I saw it was in MP4 format, so I put it on my itouch for shiz and giggles =P

I heard a rumor somebody broke their SP to try and attempt to help with that whole game cube controller-pad thing, is this true? (I might have worded that wrong, but I'm sure you would know what I'm talking about)

Yes, in fact, that is true. My friend was so intent on getting my run recorded that he/she threw that SP onto their driveway multiple times, stabbed it with a screwdriver, and eventually ran over it with a car.

It's a shame that it didn't work.

I could never dream of hurting my SP. Of course you can get a new one at gamestop for like 20$, but it's the THOUGHT that counts.

Indeed. You might be interested to know that later on, that same friend gave me another SP, this time so I could speedrun without dysfunctional shoulder buttons. Granted, that SP's screen is messed up and only displays one line of pixels, but it makes no difference when I use it as a controller for the GBP.

Yes, taking more risks (and getting a good Chozo fight) with the same quality of play should easily shave 20-30 seconds off this time. 40 seconds is a possibility, although I'll be rather surprised if I get a sub 28 single segment.

I'm glad you guys are giving me good input on the run. You've really motivated me to skip the recharge in Chozodia, and I didn't even realize how conservative I was in Tourian until you told me.

Glad we've managed to stay so on-topic here. By the way, spider's custom text says "classified" so I think everyone and their mom has figured out the joke. I'm assuming you don't know this because otherwise you've basically been using this thread as a personal message system even while you knew everyone else "gets it" and that would be not cool.

Anyway, good work on the run spider. I confess I haven't watched it but if you break 28:30 I imagine I would. Regardless, single-segment anything is hard as hell to do, so hats off to you, assuming I wore a hat.
